Re: Best Team of All Time

The 1976 Cornell team was named a Team of Distinction by USILA.  The 1976 Cornell team was dominant, winning its games by an average of 10.5 goals and finishing the regular season 13-0 and ending up 16-0 undefeated national champions. It remains the only team in NCAA tournament history to record a ...

Re: John D. Successor

There was speculation a few years ago D would have retired by now if his son would be made HC.

I don’t see him as the answer but there are multiple possibilities

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024

“ ND '24 was a great team. They had such a beautiful, fluid offense, and it was great to watch. Historic?”

I would argue definitively. Schelly committed to Hopkins then flipped to VA. I would love go have had him but ND’s offense evolved to what it became bcs of PK. A more impactful player imo.

Re: Collegiate Lacrosse Coverage is Lacking

It's interesting to me that there are so few, comprehensive online resources for collegiate lacrosse news, developments, etc. No money in it. Whoever bought the old laxpower site tried to monetize it and failed. I don’t know if it could ever have succeeded but it failed at least as much because of ...

Re: Your Most Memorable National Title Game Ever?

1977. Cornell led 10-1 over JHU at the half and 16-3 in the 4th q when the subs came in. Final score 16-8. Cornell came in undefeated and JHU had one loss, a one goal loss to Cornell. Best part of that one (played at UVa) was the PA announcement near the end that the Cornell Club of Virgina was hos...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2025

PM looked to Canada a long time ago. At least since his days at RIT. RIT still brings in a lot of Canadians. He was not at Cornell for maybe 3 years. He did not have a team of 100% “his” players. Jeff Teat is the son of Dan Teat a legendary player in Canada. He was very influential in Jeff’s decisio...

Re: Mikey Powell appreciation thread

Sometimes I go back and watch the 2004 Syracuse final four games vs. JHU and Navy. The SU offense, especially in the final vs. Navy, was so efficient. Navy won the face off battle of Pieczonka vs. Brennan (a freshman), but SU scored with scary efficiency and Russell didn't seem 100% in goal and eve...

Insightful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n79ZwO1HX9I Brody will be higher than Daniels in my book - always. I've run into him at Stanford a few times. He remembers Hopkins fondly. Brodie goes to every home game he can as of a year or two ago. Brodie gave a talk in Beijing awhile ago and learned ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2025

Hopkins modified its struture etc to improve its score on USNWR. It discontinued partivipsting in med school rankings after it fell to 5th by their metrics On the other hand managing MB has resulted in 4+ Billion in contributions with, I assume, high expectations for future donations. The Hopkins co...

RIP Lt. Brendan Looney, Navy SEAL.
In that game the Navy goalie played injured and could not raise one arm above his shoulder. Cuse scored high more than they might have.

1981 @ Princeton (Palmer Stadium?) UNC 14 JHU 13 Mike Burnett v Jeff Cook Awesomeness! That was the game officials disallowed 3 hopkins goals including one that tore a hole in the net Cook was photographed holding his hand up and through. Another was a disallowed goal off a face off that the offici...

The only thing preventing it is that (and I'm sorry to have to be the one to let everybody here know) nobody who matters cares about lacrosse. So nobody with $13M to toss around is going to blow it on enhancing a sport that will only lead to questions from hot women at cocktail parties of "isn...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2025

Chayse was fantastic on Sunday - no question - IMO his very best outing of the year in terms of saves. Clearly there were 3 or rmore times where he stole one. I would not agree that this was the norm for the season and the defense in front of him was pretty darn good. You give up 14 twice/13 once a...

Re: SF #6 Virginia vs #7 Maryland Saturday @2:30

Hopkins had 25 turnovers, maybe 10? broken clears and a deficit of 6? On faceoffs. So something like 35-40 less offensive opportunities accruing to VA’s benefit. GK bailed them out all game. Result was not a surprise except in score differential
