Thoughts on York Widener Wednesday?

I didn’t know enough on Widener to give a solid opinion, so I gave them a look to give it a whirl.

They’ve put up some serious points so far this year, though against lessor competition (same as York in both regards). Last year Widener played Gettysburg to within 2 (a same Gettysburg team that the week before beat York by 1 in OT, and the week after beat W&L by 1).

I think it will certainly be more of a challenging game than either of these teams has had so far this year. Hopefully York isn’t looking past Widener, because from my quick check, they look legit.

I tune in to York games regardless, but thanks for having me check Widener out because this game should be a good one.

Donkey ... as much as I'd love to see that result tonight, I'd be just as shocked by it. You have to go back to 2009 for the last Big Red victory of 10+ goals in this storied rivalry. Since then, yes Denison has had the better teams most often - going 14-5 in the 19 games since then - but they have only "doubled up" the Bishops 5 of those 19 times and the simple average score of all those games since, has only been 11.5 to 8.8.

This is one of those rivalries where you can throw out the records because anything can happen. The only thing you CAN count on is 2 teams BATTLING for 60 minutes or more.

This one is tough to handicap with just 1 game so far for each side. So here's hoping for another of the many "instant classics" we've seen through the years and a Big Red victory in the end ... margin of victory? 1 goal or 10, doesn't matter, I'll take it!

Heh. I looked at IL to see the score of OWU-Denison and saw 22-0 Denison. Holy crap! Then realized I was somehow on the women’s scores. (What up with that score though anyway?) Looks like a classic for the guys.
