The (D)'s are throwing everything they can find up against the wall, in a series of clumsy disjointed diatribes, nitpicking details & trying to conflate them into a gotcha, without giving Barr a chance to reply, leaving confusion in their wake. They're trying to make the same points their MSM lackeys make much more coherently on their behalf. This does not help their cause.
On the other hand, the (R)'s use their time, & give Barr the time, to make their points, in a coherent manner. Points that they can't get the MSM to cover. It was a master stroke by Jordan to sneak that riot highlight video past Nadler. The opener with MSNBC's Badghdad Belshi talking about peaceful protesters while standing in front of a burning building. .. .
Nadler's late for the hearing, excuses himself & leaves the hearing, then won't give Barr a pee break. ..

Exactly.
If Trump has had one benefit in American life, it might have been to expose people for who they really are.
Further above, MD calls OS a 'Trumpist'. I have no doubt that MD has never even met an actual Trumpist; I live among them. They are not fans of Trump the man per se, but they see in him an idea of society which doesn't look down upon them; the more the self-important elite call them 'racist' or whatever the pejorative slur of the day is (I have lost count), the more they despise those self-important elites and the more they rally to 'Trump' the idea.
I am sure every sane human being on these boards agrees that there are no actual 'Trumpists' here. MD considers anyone who isn't similarly afflicted with TDS a 'Trumpist'. Does that say more about MD or more about the person he wildly accuses of being a Trumpist? So far as the Lincoln or Bulwark crowd goes, a crowd I believe MD aligns with, these people are mocked for their similarities to Trump: rudderless, lacking in principle, opportunistic. Today they are Democrats, tomorrow they might be Republicans; they might even be Socialists. They don't stand for any coherent set of principles; they exist as barnacles on the body politic, which we scrape off from time to time so we can sail without hindrance.
Sounds like an interesting series. Film makers likely have it about right, 'good cops' and 'bad cops' in a broken system now rewarding the 'bad cops' for partisan reasons.CU88 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:11 am Christ, now American ICE NAZI's are snowflakes. Boo Hoo. Brownshirts.

In the new series, previewed ahead of its release by Newsweek, ICE agents speak candidly about their orders to ramp up arrests of undocumented immigrants, with one scene showing an agency supervisor in New York ordering an agent to bring in more "collaterals"—undocumented immigrants identified during a targeted arrest—whatever it takes.
"Start taking collaterals man," an ICE supervisor can be heard saying. "I don't care what you do, but bring at least two people in."
Throughout the series, agents can be seen discussing the need to ramp up arrest numbers, while some appear to also boast about how many people have been arrested in a single day.
That's where the collaterals are kind of like, you know, kind of the victim," Efran said. "It's an unfortunate situation because a lot of these guys are hardworking individuals. They're here to work and provide for their family. They just get caught up in politics if you look at it. It's how it is."

You, Petey, demonstrate dozens of times a day that you are a Trumpist. Clear as a bell.
Apparently you think one has to be a slavish, gonzo 'fan' of Trump in order to be a "Trumpist"...nope, while certainly those do exist, one needs only to be committed to supporting him in order to battle those one hates or detests or fears, whether based on race or religious belief or economic self-interest and be willing to overlook or excuse all flaws in that partisan course. Nothing will sway a Trumpist, their fear or hate is too strong.

So very easy to say that Biden is a decent person, damning with faint praise the "honorable man" Brutus.
https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/ ... r-electionPresident Trump on Thursday suggested delaying the November election as he continued to raise the false specter of widespread voting fraud.
“With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” he tweeted.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archi ... on/608989/Today, all 50 states grant their residents the right to vote for president, and the people’s vote determines which electors from each state will select the next president. However, any state could change its law and instead allow its legislature to decide which electors will choose the next president.
In other words, states have a lot of power in deciding how the election will run. Today, Republicans control 30 state legislatures and Democrats only 19, with one state divided. (Nebraska technically has nonpartisan legislators, but it is a reliably red state, so I include it with the Republican states.) These red-state legislatures control 305 electoral votes, and only 270 are needed to secure the presidency. Presumably, most red states, if not all, would appoint electors who would elect Trump for another four years. Of those 30 states, 22 also have Republican governors, which means in those states there would be no Democratic governor to veto Republican legislation taking away the people’s opportunity to vote for president. Those 22 states represent 219 electoral-college votes—perilously close to the 270 required for Trump to be reelected.
Could states really deprive Americans of the right to vote for their president? In Bush v. Gore, a conservative majority on the Supreme Court held that the state “can take back the power to appoint electors” at any time. And the Court is even more conservative today than it was in 2000, as Justice Brett Kavanaugh has replaced Justice Anthony Kennedy.
The more complicated question is not whether states can do this, but whether they would. Republican lawmakers have been steadfastly loyal to Trump throughout his tumultuous tenure. If Trump were to ask states to appoint electors instead of having an election, they certainly might follow his request, especially those states where the president enjoys wide popularity.

He should be removed unless he relents.

I have voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, including voting for Donald Trump in 2016. I wrote op-eds and a law review article protesting what I believe was an unconstitutional investigation by Robert Mueller. I also wrote an op-ed opposing President Trump’s impeachment.
But I am frankly appalled by the president’s recent tweet seeking to postpone the November election. Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats’ assertion that President Trump is a fascist. But this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.
