Kinzinger & Dan Crenshaw are future GOP stars.
I've liked Kinzinger since the day he stepped forth and made an effort to keep Trump accountable. Hey Salty. How's election week treating you ? And life in general? I'm on ground-hog day purgatory lockdown myself, glad the brutal California desert weather has abated so I can get out and golf and bike some more. If not for Covid I would have been back in Vermont for the summer. I worry for spring lacrosse.
Things are great here, my friend. Thanks for asking. The beautiful fall foliage & temp's in the '60's make for long relaxing happy hour afternoons at the dog park. Navy football games are being covid cancelled, but this season -- that might be merciful. Missing Navy hockey games. I still have hopes for a lax season, even if an innovative sched is reqd. I'm pleased to hear things are well with you in your desert paradise.

I feel a tremendous sense of relief with the election outcome. We are rid of Trump but the things that needed to be addressed, which propelled him to power, can no longer be ignored or minimized. I'm savoring the humiliation of the MSM & their crooked polls. Out national institutions are strong & holding, with no violence (yet, knock on wood). Trump's departure to exile in Mar a Lago will be hugely entertaining.

 ...enjoy surfing your blue wave. Too bad about your expected repudiation of Trumpism.
You & your Lincoln project colleagues are lost in the GOP desert.
Thankfully, despite your best efforts, you didn't kill off the GOP.

But what EXACTLY are the "policies" you speak of?? Seriously. The " super duper, much cheaper healthcare plan"? The oh-so-solid "immigration policy"? Donald Trump and the GOP more expansively have been flat out LYING to the country for some time now regarding their "policy" and what their "policy" means for the country writ large.

This election outcome IS SERIOUSLY a call for a very close examination of why, exactly, it went down like this. It was a GOOD thing that so many people voted. It is easy for arm-chair pundits to sit back and scrape the surface of this phenomenon with a comment like "this means Trump' policies are widely supported and must be respected." A little like calling Trump's 2016 win a "mandate".

In the good old days, when Tip and Ronnie were having a beer together after hours, they may well have found a way to sit down and hammer out a compromise on things like, say, healthcare, or infrastructure.

As long as we have vestiges of the attitude that Mitch McConnell voiced not that long ago, that they would simply refuse the other side ANY legislative "victories" to somehow show that HIS party should be in power...well..."broken" word will continue to sit there unaddressed. Mitch will spend like a drunken sailor when his side is in power. His willingness to spend now, with Biden in the Oval, will tell us all we need to know about where we're headed.

Fine but do you think it's likely to be a retread? Seems more like it should be someone new though there's a fair bit of time for things to go a lot of ways between now and late 2022 or so. I sort of expect some interest to pick back up in Marco Rubio despite his spinelessness during this past administration and the way he was eviscerated by Trump in 2015-2016. He got cut down so badly Biggie was like "damn, Tupac didn't even cut me up that much"

Apparently the folks in the city of brotherly love have a long standing tradition of being very " creative" on how they count votes. I am not tearing down anything MD. My son lives and works in this area. IMO. He has skin in the game and I hope you understand since he lives there he is entitled to having an opinion. I am guessing you have a problem with that? Philly does not have a strong reputation regarding integrity and honesty in many respects. If my son wants to question their integrity please forgive me for believing him long before I will ever believe you. That is the nicest and most polite way I can say it to you. ;)
Is that the same son who is having a hard time finding decent pizza?

Well, that could form the basis for another opinion. Believe me when i tell you that there are GOBS of Italians in this area...and i know you'll agree that Italians know how to make pizza. Plenty of pie shops across the region...

So, let's review...he can't find a decent pizza in the Philly area...AND...he thinks officials here lack "integrity and honesty" when it comes to counting votes...OK...

Would he, by any chance, have an opinion about Donald's "integrity and honesty"?? Just looking for samples to work with here...

So, we just report, you all decide. Talk amongst ya-selves...

..
My son has found some halfway decent pizza out there in the burbs of Philly. It ain't nothing like the pizza here in Upstate NY. He could go into Philly for some good pie but that involves going into Philly. IMO the only necessary trip into Philly involves a stop at Geno's for a cheesesteak. :D

" Would he, by any chance, have an opinion about Donald's "integrity and honesty"?? Just looking for samples to work with here.."

Dis my oldest boy is a republican. he married into an old school republican family. His father in law was county executive in the town of Corning for many years. You are asking for a comparison between the blood and guts partisan Democrat loyalty that exists in the city of Philly with other folks that live around Philly that do not share the same sentiments. He knows enough about the nuts and bolts of how politics work in Philly to have earned the privilege of criticizing the Democratic machine there. They sure know how to count votes. They don't do it very fast but they sure know how to keep counting and counting and counting and counting and counting and counting until the count gets where you want it to be. :D

+1M. A great summary - Trump is toast and everyone needs to actually realize it.
Trump should be conserving legal budget and resources for the ongoing and new legal cases he'll be facing as a private citizen.

His claims of challenging the election are the weakest sauce imaginable. Basically, just an old grouchy guy shouting at clouds while everyone around him (other than Rudy and the kids) heads for the exits.
"Trump should be conserving legal budget and resources for the ongoing and new legal cases he'll be facing as a private citizen."

Are those the ones he will be dealing with from his yacht parked offshore in the Bahama's? ;)

in the 1800s there were some pretty squirrelly things going on, so i'd imagine concession speeches weren't 100%.

when did conceding come about? in modern times, he may be the first. i'm going to assume for now that trump won't, if anything it'll be statement full of outs.

i'd say trump is better than even money to be there for biden. but i wouldn't bet my money on it.
love the irony of your last sentence.
Better than even odds, but wouldn't bet your own money.

I'm thinking he simply won't show, crazy as that sounds. Hunker down in Mar a Lago. Counter argument might be that he could be so needy of attention, he shows and makes a bunch of reckless statements to Fox, tweets through it, etc...

Even less likely to have a cordial visit in the White House itself.
The only way trump will ever be there for Biden is if Joe needs campaign doe. trump always said it... it ain't personal, it's bu$$$$ineSSSS.

We have about 1000 attorneys here in Upstate just like trumps. They advertise ad nauseum on local TV. We call em personal injury attorneys. These are the legal eagles that bona fide attorneys scrape off their shoes.

Maybe a for-profit MAGA-land in Branson, Missouri?
