Spallina leaving??? Maybe this is related to Malever leaving Maryland. Would shock me, but you never know these days 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I know Spallina always wanted to wear #22 but has he developed at Cuse? I think he’s regressed, he’s almost afraid to dodge. I always thought he should model his game after Rambo. I wonder who could help him with that?

Somewhere with a great coach that knows how to get the most out of his guys! And a coach that knows how to excel in May!

Having watched him quite a but during his club days, I never saw him as a dodger. A hell of a player, excellent facilitator and unconventional shooting style. I actually thought back when he might struggle a bit against athletic collegiate defenders. Still, a heckuva a player.

attackman Eric Malever has entered the portal as a grad transfer, per a source. Posting 15g/22a as a senior, the former Top 10 recruit racked up 105 points in three seasons in College Park, missing all of 2023 after putting up 48 points for the national champs in ‘22.

I keep thinking Notre Dame, which had BJ Burlace as a reserve last year via transfer and has younger brother Gavin on the roster, might make a play for Colin Burlace. Just a hunch.
I don’t know why you are trying to will this into reality…Burlace will likely be the Terps top defender next year, he isn’t going anywhere. And Notre Dame can’t “make a play” unless the player enters the portal (he hasn’t), otherwise it is blatant tampering. BJ left because he wasn’t going to see the field at Maryland.
Calm down, eh? it’s the internet.

For sure.

His younger brother is also very good. All of those years of passing the ball to McCabe has also helped him develop some high level distribution skills. But McCabe is gonna be a handful to deal with. Sorta like Kabiri at Princeton.

I watched him a ton in HS and he not only backed guys down but he had a two handed right handed power dodge that got him topside all the time. Clearly he’s drawing D1 elite poles but he has just abandoned that part of his game. He needs to get real coaching. At SU he won’t develop.

That's a lot of talent. #22 is not the legend that upstate people dreamed of, but he has shown maturity and a ton of skill. The other one threw his gloves down in disgust as the Terps guy stole his lunch money to end the final four game.

But they're very talented. Not Kavanaghs, or Shellenberger & Cormier/Dickson etc., but very good college players.

True, but could really open up the midfield as a pair playing attack drawing a ton of attention.

Wherever Spallina goes, if he goes anywhere, he instantly makes that team better. Every lacrosse observer or fan sees his athletic limitation, but we'd all love to have him on our respective teams. He makes any team better as a component of their respective systems, but not as a one-man savior.

Something tells me it’s not Spallina. The amount of Cuse guys he’s playing with in Canada is a lot. Think he even posted a pic wit them all today. Just seems odd he’d bring Trey Deere up with him this summer if he’s leaving.

My guess is it is either Owen Hiltz chasing a ring as a senior or a young kid who maybe Petro recruited like Dwan. Or, Michael Leo as he and Hiltz really overlap imo.

The way the tweet is worded, my money is on Dwan lol but who knows.

Spallina leaving would be wild and spell the beginning of the end for Gait. To have the number one recruit out in two years.

Really good player. Remember he was lighting it up as a Frosh before covid cancelled the season.

Saw he played in 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 at Fairfield. 2021 redshirt.

2020 Covid + 2021 medical redshirt? Seems like he can potentially play 2 years?
he has used 3 eligibility seasons. has 1 left.
Yes but covid is a free 5th year for everyone. Let's say next year in 2025 he's using his "medical redshirt" from 2021. He'd technically still have a redshirt from 2020.

Talked to a coach who's all over the portal. Said the decision would be up to him and he'd need an NCAA Waiver- which he likely would get since 2021 was a medical redshirt.

2020- Covid RS (Free redshirt for every player in NCAA)
2021- Medical RS
2022- RS Frosh
2023- RS Soph
2024- RS Jr
2025- RS Sr (Medical redshirt)
2026- RS GR (Covid redshirt)
I have a lot of dissonance over this sort of scenario. On one hand, good for the kid to do what he loves. Wouldn't we all appreciate that? On the other, move the hell on and get a job. You have toddlers and an apartment across the street from campus (joke) and are playing against 19 year olds. Give someone else an opportunity.
this type of scenario has been going on for 5 years. the pandemic cancelled a season. the nc$$ made what many think was a rash decision for all sports, including the other 2 seasons later on. he won't be playing in 2026 unless he gets injured again. which it looks like also took away a good chunk of one of his 3 eligibilty-used seasons as well. in singling him out when it's the collective and we all just got done watching a lot of 5th/6th years playing, he's got 30-40 years to work a job. everyone already does have an opportunity. caveat emptor.
I think the question was how many years of eligibility would this player have and I would think it's pretty clearly one. He still gets only 4 years of eligibility and he used 3 from 22-24. He can play in 2025 and then he is done. Covid gave players 6 years to play 4 (2020 didn't count despite teams playing 5 or 6 games each) rather than the normal 5 years to play 4. It didn't give players the ability to play 5 seasons excluding 2020.
Who knows anymore. This kid played at four colleges
