Interesting that they chose R Casey to make the cut at #46 with same point total as CW.user1020 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:39 pmReznick graduated, so they’ll give that spot to Wurzburger (they have always overhyped her).intheknow247 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:10 pm1-10 in no order other than Scane is 1 (but I have 11 listed so is someone not returning? Yes I’d say the “bloom is off the rose” in regards to CW. And they way they [IL] overhyped her in beginning wowGratefulRed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 8:57 amInteresting that they chose R Casey to make the cut at #46 with same point total as CW.user1020 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:39 pmReznick graduated, so they’ll give that spot to Wurzburger (they have always overhyped her).intheknow247 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 2:10 pm1-10 in no order other than Scane is 1 (but I have 11 listed so is someone not returning? Also not suprised to see the Cuse goalie that high with who put out this list.
Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
How does Laliberty not make this list given the goalies that did? .475 save percentage (higher than some on the list), conference and national champion, eye test says she made tough saves against top opponents in moments that mattered on a consistent basis. Other GKs on this list struggled against top opponents and also had poor games down the stretch.
I like that the list gives us something to talk about even if it’s slightly ridiculous.

Thacker is good, but not #3 good. Sammy White at #8 is too low. Should be closer to #5.laxfan9999 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 12:30 pm Let the debating begin

I won't be surprised if she is a Tewaaraton Finalist next year. She is a difference maker.
It it possible for a school to have 3 finalist?
Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
White may be a better one v one defender, but Thacker was Defensive POY. Thacker did her absolute best in the role she was assigned and IMO did better at her role than White did. Both are phenomenal players but Thacker is the best at her position. My top 10 with the same 10 as IL would beNULax2 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:27 pmThacker is good, but not #3 good. White is still raw. She's got the skills and talent but she need more seasoning in her decision making. I think she'll get there. But top 10 right now? Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
People knocked her last season because her stats weren't as good as others'. You're right, though. She was clutch. She made the saves when she needed to make them. I think that's the biggest and best thing a team can ask for from their goalie. I'm sure she's fine "just" being a national champ and not receiving other accolades.hsllax wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:08 pm How does Laliberty not make this list given the goalies that did? .475 save percentage (higher than some on the list), conference and national champion, eye test says she made tough saves against top opponents in moments that mattered on a consistent basis. Refer to Rachel Hall for explanation on Laliberty...ultravisitor wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:03 pmPeople knocked her last season because her stats weren't as good as others'. You're right, though. Fairly certain I mentioned somewhere that the ILW director is a Cuse alum and she has very rose colored glasses about her former school--a complete homer.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 1:18 pmPathetic, isn't it? I guess IL Women isn't concerned with their credibility--(not that they had a lot to begin with). But this is a new low.
I will also point out that too many associated with the women's side have no idea what makes a goalie good or great--they've missed the mark on quite a few goalies for some time. I guess we should all be glad if we aren't goalie parents.
Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
I do find it fascinating that Jill Smith had to absolutely blow things up and make the list. Amazing 2023 season for her and she wasn't even ranked by IL. I had the opportunity to watch her play in her HS days and it was obvious she had some great talent, no clue why IL missed this one...oh, wait...it's probably because she grew up in Michigan like Izzy Scane!
Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
In fairness, she didn't do anything her freshman year that warranted being ranked on last year's top 50. Only started 4 games. 15 G 0 A.MolonLaxe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:21 pm I do find it fascinating that Jill Smith had to absolutely blow things up and make the list. Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
Jill’s freshman year was abysmal, but there were way better players in front of her as well. This is why we should all wait before we crown those HS players—some pan out better than expected and some do not.hmmm wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 4:38 pmIn fairness, she didn't do anything her freshman year that warranted being ranked on last year's top 50. Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
OK, so which player not in the IL top 10 will have a clear top 10 season?
My answer is Rachel Clark. She scored more goals as a freshman than any other player in uva history while playing an acc schedule and she led the team in scoring again last year as a sophomore. I think she will have a breakout year at BC and be a clear tewaarton finalist.

I can definitely see that scenario for Clark. Good choice.Womenslaxxfan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 08, 2023 11:05 pm OK, so which player not in the IL top 10 will have a clear top 10 season?

It's a great question you pose. I have a number of players to suggest: NU's Madison Taylor; Michigan's Jill Smith; Syracuse's Emma Ward and Emma Tyrrell; Stony Brook's Ellie Masera; BC's Kayla Martello.
Re: ILWomen Top 50 Players 2024
I love Emma Ward's game. The feeds she gives is unmatched from behind the net to go along with a terrific 1v1 game. A complete offensive player who may be my second favorite player to watch behind Scane.
I think Clarke is going to blow up, funny statement considering most would say her has already. The supporting cast of players and coaches will take her game to a notch just below Scane. I think the coaches can handle having several stars on the field at a time to keeps things running smooth. She could win the Teewart if Scane has some issues this year and BC wins the title.
Scane just stands out to me because of the fire she brings to her defensive rides! These new green card rules will take out a major defensive component out of the game, ugggghh.
