Yet still beat more playoff teams than Army. Ouch!
Yeah was at a HS recruiting tournament yesterday a lot of talent Rutgers coach was there talking to some of the club coaches / college players hopefully they get one to transfer.
are you both about 13? There is absolutly NO WAY either one of you ever attended Rutgers or Army.
this is just what lorin does - comes in and talks. he might not even be a real person.
A few years ago it was Brecht not recruiting, or not successfully recruiting, NJ kids. In recent years the portal has provided a new line of attack.
I've often wondered how he got this burr under his saddle.

Don’t forget he was suspended early in his tenure there as well. Not opining on the merits but it happened in what, year 3.

New Jersey kids can be fickle. However, the proverbial worm is turning. This class Coach Brecht was able to land what is the clear number 1 player in the state.
I was speaking with someone recently who said Maryland had similar challenges back in the day. Recruiting the state wasn't as easy as it has become now. If you look throughout their history there, is some credence to this. Many of their best players leading up to this point weren't from Maryland. That seems to have changed and they are recruiting the MIAA much better. With the proliferation of the game at the hs level, recruiting NJ specifically isn't as important as it once was, even with it getting better. With B1G membership secured, program funding, the Rodkin Center and forthcoming stadium, it isn't a shock to see the uptick.

With B1G membership secured, program funding, the Rodkin Center and forthcoming stadium, it isn't a shock to see the uptick recruiting has seen, in the portal and at the hs level.

Is the worm really turning or were they only able to land a high-end NJ prospect because his dad was an alum and his brother is on the team. Seems like a one-off event brought about by strong family ties. If they truly were gaining momentum in the state, wouldn’t you see a stronger 2024 class of NJ recruits?

Is this thread really back to making it some sort of barometer of success that Brecht maximizes NJ recruits? Personally, if Shinya Tateishi enters the portal I say take him.

You mean his brother who was also highly recruited? Family ties are irrelevant in recruiting. Players make decisions on where they want to be, not where daddy went to school.
NJ recruiting as I said can and will get better. But it's better than it was. But that's sort of irrelevant to the overall mission of getting the best players possible. At the end of the day that's all that matters. Brecht will have more 4* recruits on his 23 team recruited from HS than he has ever had previously. The more they win the more they will continue to attract even more talent. It doesn't hurt that kids like the Kirst bros speak loudly about how much they loved their experience there.

Irrelevant? If you think the Kirst brothers would have transferred to Rutgers without their family ties then you live in a fantasy world.
They may not be the biggest factor in recruiting, but they definitely are a factor.

out of the 12 coming in for the 23 class, 4 are from NJ - 33% is good for me.
kurdyla is highly rated and whether you want to say the only reason he chose rutgers was from family ties, then so be it. a 6'2", 190 lb midfielder probably has a plethora of schools to choose from. they have a 3 star from the pingry school and 2 other solid NJ lacrosse players coming in.

All good I just decided to pull this up while still rubbing crust out of my eyes after a very late night and had to do a double take to make sure I was awake and thinking properly like “what does this guy know that I don’t?”
Btw look out for my sons fantasy team next year if you’re playing again. We’re going to be stacked and just need a defense better than Yales.
