Rankings don’t mean much but how many starters were returning starters from the 2020 team?NElaxtalent wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 6:51 pmCurious, what have you seen from Prin that makes you put them ahead of Jax, Bart, etc? Monmouth W that impressive?

Re: Potential New Top 20
Just finished my preliminary list. Pretty similar. The hardest part so far is where to rank undefeated teams that were not highly rated preseason and done have big wins compared to some previously highly ranked teams that have already picked up a loss.

Lehigh Loyola Drexel all preseason top 20. Lehigh has to be biggest disappointment. They look bad
Re: Potential New Top 20
You kinda had to rank Lehigh high (pun not intended) bc of their overall record last year and the impact of Sisselberger, but they didnt look particularly good last year either. Lot of games where their offense was mediocre against mediocre competition but they rode tons of faceoff wins to success. And whenever they didn’t dominate faceoffs, they were handled easily. Not surprising to see them fall out IMONeverplaydown wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 7:31 pm Lehigh Loyola Drexel all preseason top 20. Lehigh has to be biggest disappointment. They look bad

They’ve had some injuries to some solid players but by and large it’s 90% of the same teamTypical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 7:38 pmDid Lehigh lose much off last year’s team?jrn19 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 7:33 pmYou kinda had to rank Lehigh high (pun not intended) bc of their overall record last year and the impact of Sisselberger, but they didnt look particularly good last year either. Hobart played without their top returning scorer, Derek Madonna (https://hwsathletics.com/sports/mens-la ... onna/16517).Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Sun Feb 20, 2022 8:35 pmOk. But our fogos have been wildly underrated since Matt Pedicine graduated. Blanchard is at OSU for his fifth year but the NEC tends to have refs that skew towards a select FOGO who gets a reputation. The younger Massa got smacked around for two years by the least effective FOGO Raymond has had but he still got first team NEC two years in a row. This kid we have Adam Shea from NC is legit. Slow starter most games but picks up steam like crazy (https://hwsathletics.com/sports/mens-la ... shea/16527).
Lehigh had two solid mids down but net net it was effectively even strength given Madonna plus a few other returning guys who didn’t play. More importantly we out muscled them despite a 2-3” and 10-20lb disadvantage on average. Interestingly OSU has leaned on our transfer Knox heavily in their success so far this year. Blanchard has played well but Inacio has been clear starter. Blanchard will be important to them by season end however.
Hobart has basically been around top 20 since 2019. 11-5 w two late season blown big leads to RoMo, 4-1 and looking like a too 15 team in 20. Last year was a mess and still barely lost to Bryant in NEC playoffs to finish 6-3. So been 23-9 over that stretch. Holden was injured most of last year and didn’t practice w MDAs much but you’ve got four kids contributing to MD, Del and OSU from there as well.

No doubt. Jax should be above Denver and UNC IMO. They look strong.

Re: Potential New Top 20
Most schools have Soph and Jr. classes who missed 1-2 full seasons of development between High School and their FR year in college over 20-21 seasons. That’s non IVY. If you were a FR last year you didn’t play a Sr HS year and mostly shortened 21 seasons without fall ball and maybe only conference play. Juniors got 4-5 games as FRs in 2020 and then abbreviated or conference only 21 seasons with no fall ball. We’re speculating on a lot of kids on teams who haven’t had a full year since they were 16-17yrs old and now major contributors to teams. Going to take like 5-7 games to have a sense for most. May be where college coaching staffs matter-how they managed the last 2+yes of off seasons and non playing periods with their kids.
