Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
Is an absolute disgrace that Alyssa Parrella is not included on the tryout roster after finishing her heralded Hofstra career as the 10th all-time leading goal scorer in NCAA wlax history, ranking 15th all-time in NCAA points and leading Pride to first NCAA Tourney bid in 14 years. The coaching staff should be ashamed of themselves for this slight on this amazing young woman who least deserves a chance to make the team!

Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
She is an assistant coach at Naval Academy, she may have obligations that prevent her from attending/trying out. That is my educated guess. I know others that simply choose not to try out anymore as they are happy playing in the professional league and coaching. (I'm sure you can think of one, she played down south and graduated two years ago, mighty good player.

The middie pool is really even after the first three (Cummings, McCool, Arsenault). Beyond that it will be interesting to see who they take. I would think they'd want another draw specialist in addition to Cummings and McCool, so maybe Warden or Aldave will be in the mix.
Apuzzo is a fantastic player and more of an off-ball threat than Hoeg, but Hoeg raises the level of play of everyone around her in a way that Apuzzo does not. I think they're competing for the same spot and you can't go wrong with either of them but I don't think it's obvious that Apuzzo goes over Hoeg.
Agree on Parrella.

Always political. Last time around an aged Mrs. Rabile got a spot even after completely embarrassing herself in the final tryout game. Life is not fair.hofstrapride1 wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 9:07 pm Is an absolute disgrace that Alyssa Parrella is not included on the tryout roster after finishing her heralded Hofstra career as the 10th all-time leading goal scorer in NCAA wlax history, ranking 15th all-time in NCAA points and leading Pride to first NCAA Tourney bid in 14 years. Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
I'm not really advocating and I absolutely love Treanor's game (think she got shorted on the T Award too). You don't get that good with a stick without a lot of natural ability and then of course the practice and perhaps even becoming a little addicted to the stick (I don't feed the addiction as much as I once did but I wouldn't say I'm fully recovered either). Enter running around the field playing catch and shooting at the goal with Gary. Nothing will feed your addiction like that or expand the definition of creative (in a lacrosse sense) more than that will. That's almost an unfair combination of advantages. I haven't seen Kayla play for quite some time now but yeah, she's just an incredible player who leaves you shaking your head a couple times during a game. lah says, yes, a better stick than CN. I haven't seen anybody in D1 wlax who I think has a better stick than Charlotte. This is not to say that I don't think there are a whole bunch of others who are mighty good with their sticks too, but I see Charlotte's as a notch above. Would be fun to watch Kayla and Charlotte run around the field playin' a little catch and shooting at the cage. Whose stick are you going to say is better after watching that for an hour or so? Oh, and bring dem Cuse gals on!!!njbill wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 8:54 pmDMac, they gonna revoke your da Cuse card. What you doin' advocating for a Dookie over two Cuse girls?DMac wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 2:34 pm Who is to say that Charlotte wouldn't play unselfishly (I don't think she's playing all that selfishly now) when playing with that kind of talent? She'll hit a cutter who got open through off ball movement and she'll get herself open with off ball movement as well. For such a gifted and talented player who is a vicious competitor as well this girl sure does take a lot of heat. If she doesn't get invited one of the best in the business is just flat out getting snubbed. Treanor's stick is better than North's?
These gals are the creme de la creme, it's a splitting hairs discussion. Aint nobody gonna beat this team whichever players are selected. GO TEAM USA!!!!!

I also neglected to mention before she is not only a top 10 scorer, but did so in far fewer games than the others while also being constantly face-guarded.suffolk wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 10:34 pmTotally agree with this!!!!hofstrapride1 wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 9:07 pm Is an absolute disgrace that Alyssa Parrella is not included on the tryout roster after finishing her heralded Hofstra career as the 10th all-time leading goal scorer in NCAA wlax history, ranking 15th all-time in NCAA points and leading Pride to first NCAA Tourney bid in 14 years. Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
So next lacrosse thing is the tryouts next week. Based on how the season ended I wondered if anyone changed their minds as to who would get picked. I believe they typically take 18 with 1-2 alternatesspartanslynx wrote: ↑Sat May 22, 2021 5:35 pmOhlmiller and Kennedy, I bet.
And I think they deserve it.
Usually 4 attackers (1 alternate)
5 Defenders
2 Goalies
7 Middies
North, Treanor, Appuzzo all play attack and take draw...I wonder if they will take them all?
A few attackers trying out as middies and I wonder if they will get in since typically more middies are taken than attackers....
which goalies will get chosen?... With reg season over thought id throw this out there for discussion.

Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
The trend in the college game over the last several years in all kinds of DI programs has been away from the two-way middie ... more specialization with 5-6 defenders and the same in the attack with subs running through the box. I wonder if this will impact the roster selections?
Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
Still a ways to go in the process. The roster is now at 61. From the most recent article, it sounds like they will cut that down to 36 next, perhaps after the upcoming tryout session.
The final cut will be to 18. Don’t know if they will go directly from 36 to 18 or how many additional sessions there will be before the final team is announced.
Is anybody a lock? Maybe Treanor and Cummings?

I'd be really surprised if Tumulo, Mercer and Douty didn't make it...

Both are locks and I’d say Apuzzo too (and Tumolo, thanks LAH)seacoaster wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 6:44 pmMercer? Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
The attack group is loaded with talent ... Treanor, Apuzzo, Kent, KO, Tumolo, Hoeg, Ortega, North, Scane. Only 3 attackers are on the field at a time. I'm guessing 5 make to final roster. Does USA Lax want the younger more recognizable, new generation of players or do they stay with the older players who have been involved for 10+ years?
Re: Womens USA team Who you got?
That’s a good question. Seems you have many. I’m glad. I don’t have an opinion on it but it is a challenging dilemma.Lax101 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:20 pm The attack group is loaded with talent ...
