A ridiculous post about a potentially serious issue.
This a valid point about the team and the play on the
field.

Not of course the issues off the field, which are/were
very much different.

Not sure if Syracuse has a Steele Stanwick on the roster,
is the catch, one of the really great individual end of
season runs, Stanwick was something to watch.

And once this all shakes out,
my vote would be Hiltz as #22.

Agree, much respect. May cost them their season but as another said some things are bigger than the game.
 Cost them their season how, or is bananas just trolling?
Not trolling at all. They are facing Notre Dame in a few days and willing to walk away from practices on principle. Willing to compete without their leading scorer because they refuse to turn a blind eye to wrongs. Admirable , certainly no disrespect intended .That team has top talents in Refhus, Hiltz, those three, Dearth, Kennedy , Porter but have had to deal with alot of injuries and now this cloud overhanging. Gotta affect focus .

Other than Rutgers, Ill now be rooting for that team this year .

I have no idea what the reality is. But, I hope that the facts are determined and the right decisions are made. The allegations are more significant than lacrosse.

Lots more discussion and speculation on syracusefan.com and Reddit.

This is a terrible distraction for Syracuse and lacrosse in general. This should be the best time of the season.

OK so, the positive comments on here re the team's character only adds to my post a day or so ago that the team is in a good place.

If the team shows the effort they did vs UVA in their next two games (whether Scanlan plays or not) will tell us if/how this issue affected their season. I'm willing to wait and see.

I find any comparisons between this situation and UVA are callous and extremely hurtful. I think the media might make comparisons to Yeardley Love. I don't mean to speculate or jump to conclusions. But, those posts are really out of touch with the sensitivity of the allegations.

If the allegations are true; then the two unfortunately have some very haunting similarities.

yes, they do. hopefully it gets resolved the way it should and whatever went down.

and if the players are in the right, good on them. great on them. getting to whatever the truth is might take a while.

I would like to see them put #22 on the backburner until Spallina arrives.
Having that number on the field every year does a disservice to what it stands for.

Put it on the back burner with it turned on high. The number needs to go at this point, retire it. Gait deserves that, others too but mainly Gary. If Spallina lives up to the hype his number can passed on like the number eleven has.

Lol at you people talking about the 22 jersey. Newsflash: no one gives a turd. Pathetic that this would even be brought up at a time like this.

It’s time to focus on doing the right thing for all those involved. Nothing else matters.

Never give it to a freshman or transfer. Choose #22 for an offensive leader (jr or sr only). I believe they have done that with #11 on the defensive side.

Scanlan involved in what was described as a "domestic incident" the day before he was suspended

How 'bout you spare us the sanctimonious sermon. Yeah, plenty of people care about the number and have for 3+ decades. There's life after the Scanlan scandal and the number is going to come up. Bet on that.

I think when the guy wearing the # was involved in a domestic incident and then suspended the # might need to go away for a little bit

As I noted above, I'd make it longer than a little bit.

But it becomes more of a handcuff than something that improves the situation at this point. Especially when it’s given to an underclassmen. Don’t agree with that other poster but these ceremonial things become institutional and then impact programs in ways never intended
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

It should have been retired a long time ago, IMO. No one has done that number justice for a long time now. Have a ceremony with Gary and the others (minus Scanlan) and hang it in the Dome right next to the eleven national title banners. Done with the number and burden that comes with it.

Your starting attackman was just involved in a serious domestic violence matter yet you guys are talking about a jersey. Upstate local yokels for ya. Pathetic!

The only folks who are thinking straight are the players. Kudos to them!
