How's this guy any different than, say, the San Bernardino killers? Other than the fact that this guy was bad at bomb making.
So Tipper Gore was right? Rock and Roll is putting ideas in kids heads, and tearing America apart?
Yes, I agree that Trump should be held to a higher standard as President. Yes, calling the American Media "the enemy" is inherently dangerous. Yes, I believe the Republican party should tell Trump to shut up with that stuff.
But Trump didn't tell his followers to bomb people. This dude has to accept the consequences for his actions.
And as I said, the Dems and R's have to wake up and tone it down. The Dems had the high ground, and foolishly gave it up. This could EASILY have been a Dem nutjob, following urges to "kick them" when they "go low".
Of course the "dude has to accept the consequences for his actions". No one suggested otherwise.
You make a perfectly fine point about Dems and "moral high ground". But it really isn't a moral equivalency nevertheless.
In terms of "high ground" the Dem leadership, especially as personified by the most recent President and Vice President, have taken an enormously different tone. You
can argue that some of the Dem leaders have taken some steps down the hill from the pinnacle 'high ground' but they are from from in the gutter with the current POTUS nor do they have nearly the same bull horn or level of responsibility.
And, yes, Antifa has gotten down in the mud, the gutter with the low-lifes of the hard right. Fair point, and we should all reject violence from either side. But really, same as white nationalists? Nope.
But yes, both Dems and GOP in leadership, and their supporters, should tone down the hateful rhetoric and certainly should decry the violence.
But please understand that the reality of these past 3 years has been an enormous spike in violence against Jews, Muslims, and their places of worship and a dramatic rise in open membership in white nationalist groups.
