Re: ~Loyola University Lacosse 2019~
How does Savio look on face-offs? Schwenk is coming off a decent year, and his backup comes highly recommended.

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)
Towson FOGO, who is strong as a bull, evidently gave UVA problems, and their guy is returning after a decent year last year.

Re: How is New Shot Clock and Dive Rule going n Fall Ball
I didn't see the afternoon games but did catch Duke-Furman in the evening. Duke ran two offensive midfields about equally. The sub patterns were pretty much the way they would have been in the past, but there was far less superfluous passing. In addition, all middies were involved in the clearing ga...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)
I'll miss this one because of a conflict with an engagement at the RAC. Evidently, Towson gave UVA a tough scrimmage yesterday, dominating face-offs. From this weekends games, midfield depth will be especially important this year. Who is Hopkins's third dm? They need to run three. I'm also a little ...

Correction: Seau had 2 and 2, not 3 goals.

Re: Duke 2019
One observation: I don't think the new rules necessarily require two-way middies, but I think they do make it necessary to run a second offensive unit with more regularity than some teams have done in recent years, and you better rotate three, if not four ssdms. Duke's second middies, two of whom ar...

Re: Duke 2019
Duke takes down Furman, 17-9, without Smith, Manown. Starters and regulars who would play in most games were in until last three minutes or so. I think Carpenter, Seau, and Robertson each had three goals.

Sounds as if the Heels had no problems with Mercer. Any info on lineups, scoring, etc.?

Re: How is New Shot Clock and Dive Rule going n Fall Ball
Judging from scores--I didn't see any of the games--it looks like it will be harder to avoid blowouts in mismatches. The game that intrigued me most was Maryland-Bucknell since it pitted one of the three best teams against a solid but weaker team. From the little that I heard, it seemed that while t...

I heard the first quarter on the radio. Is Bucknell better than I thought or is Maryland not as good as I thought?

Re: Maryland 2019
The way the Utah and St. Bonnie's games have gone, it appears that the shot clock era will not be kind to underdogs. While Maryland has played slow ball in the past, the Terps will up the tempo under the new rules. Bison could be in for a long day.

Re: Maryland 2019
The caliber of athlete playing for Maryland is a major factor in separating them from the pack. With the injury to Smith, I would rate them a little above Duke for the moment. I've been burned before dissing the Ivy League, but now I would rank Maryland, Yale, and Duke one, two. three.

Re: Maryland 2019
I remember that game well. A Bucknell middie scored the winning goal. It was pretty brisk on that turf field. I believe the year before that they played an afternoon game that I was lucky enough to see because my school had closed due to a water main break. Terps won that one easily.
