The 2019 Towson University men’s lacrosse program captured its eighth Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship last spring, grinding out a 16-14 win at Garber Field.

Now the league office will reair the Lax Sports Network’s broadcast of the title win over Drexel, the fifth Towson’s championship under ninth-year head coach Shawn Nadelen

The rebroadcast will be carried on the CAA’s YouTube channel Friday afternoon with a 3 p.m. start. Nadelen will be live tweeting on his Twitter account, @CoachNadelen. The ninth-year head coach will tweet about key moments and provide insight to game plan and timeouts.

No. 12 Towson got by third-seeded Delaware 18-11 in the CAA Semifinals before clashing with the fourth-seeded Dragons during the CAA Tournament for the sixth time in a seven-year stretch. It was a tight affair early as the teams tied four times to make it 7-7.

Towson strung together five straight goals to end the first half with a 12-7 advantage. Luke Fromert scored a diving goal, paying for his efforts by absorbing a heavy body check, to put the Tigers up 16-9 with one second to play in the third quarter.

Down but not out, Drexel reeled off five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, trimming the Towson lead down to 16-14. After the Dragons scored with 42 seconds left in the title bout, Drexel could not get another shot on goal, setting Towson up to hoist the 2019 trophy.

Tournament Most Outstanding Player Brendan Sunday finished with a hat trick while Timmy Monahan went off for six points on two goals and four helpers. Fromert added four goals while big netminder Tyler Canto stopped 17 Drexel attempts.
