IL Class of 2023 Power 100 Incoming Freshmen

Post by 10stone5 »

IL just came out with their women’s Top 100 Freshmen, so the men’s version should be out in a couple days.

Interesting also with the men’s list,
since Ty Xanders recently left IL.

Given that Xanders just left IL, I am guessing he still had a pretty big hand in their rankings.

FWIW, these are the FanLax Fantasy League draft picks thus far. Draft only started on Sunday so many more coming. The drafted upperclassmen (Jack Boyden, Stephen Avery, etc.) are players who weren't drafted last season and or earlier. For obvious reasons, most of the draftees are freshman.

Pick # Team -

Firth is definitely on my top 10-11 list.

Unfortunately, Hoffman appeared to have a pretty bad injury, maybe he's recovered.

As a rule, we don't discuss players until they're drafted so there may be some players still to come that coaches will fawn over after he's picked but, thus far, the general consensus for Fantasy Coach favorite seems to be Owen Duffy.

These lists are irrelevant. Little to no effort goes into maintaining and adjusting evaluations once IL publishes their initial list 2 years prior. Many players leapfrog IL's ranked players but IL doesn't make adjustments for those players (nor do they adjust for those who have fallen off the charts). Ranking systems in other sports such as basketball and football adjust constantly well into the athletes senior year.

As lists unto themselves, I agree. But as a starting point for forums like us, it works. In other words, their list is good for us to tell them how they got it wrong and why. Their list is mediocre, the feedback from the FanLax Forum post-ers is great.

Personally think Kabiri and Hoffman should’ve been higher. (And Avery over McLane but that’s more position driven and not FR)

That should read Farfromgenevajr as well. He ate up competition last season like he was brushing dirt off his shoulder.

If IL takes fall ball performances into account (I think they do based on when they release the list), I think Kabiri (3 - Princeton) and Duffy (4 - UNC) will leapfrog Millon (1 - UVA). Kabiri put up a ton of points against Notre Dame, as did Duffy against Ohio State. Lots of hype already surrounding Duffy it feels like. Millon was pretty quiet in UVA's scrimmages I believe. Based on IL fall ball reports I also wouldn't be surprised to see Lehman (7 - Penn State), Christmas (10 - Duke) Deere (18 - Syracuse) and Colin Burns (19 - Princeton) rise up the rankings.

Hunter Chauvette scored 4 times as a starting middie against Richmond this fall and twice against Lehigh. Shot is possibly better than advertised. He was #21 and a 4-star this summer...would be surprised if he's not a 5-star and closer to the top 10 now.

Keep in mind IL historically takes into account a player's projected role in the spring. So a kid could be the most talented player in the country but if IL doesn't think he'll get much playing time, that might ding him in the rankings. They edge toward guys who are likely to start.

As someone who hasn't drafted yet, because I won the whole thing last season, I'm not happy about the discussion of undrafted players. But, there's nothing I can do about it.

That rule applies to the fantasy thread. Could travel with team members but I see only drafted guys mentioned by participants.

And nobody is going to have sympathy the way you beat a poor child in the semi and also used multiple UMAss pieces that week who happened to end one of his two favorite college teams (Hobart, Pton near second) seasons in the real world. It’s like you were trying to one up the Grinch who stole Christmas and now begging for sympathy?

;). (Having fun, we never should’ve beaten Hip and Knee the week prior)

We just drafted him at pick 13 in the fantasy draft.

Definitely not expecting sympathy after two undefeated seasons in a row. 8-)

Hoffman as a Senior was not he Hoffman people saw as a Junior. He has some injuries going on, not sure the extent of them. Based on his senior year, I would not have him in the top 10. Based on his potential, he is a top 10 guy. Delgado was their best offensive player last year and it was not particularly close in the games I saw
