Starting a thread for AU 2023 Season after seeing the class draft post today on Instagram. Can someone explain the process?
How are the college players drafted? Do they know they will be drafted just unsure what placement they land? Do they agree to be up for the draft before its called? I'm curious after seeing again this season that players who were drafted didn't go through with signing. I'm sure life things come up, jobs and new cities post grad etc., just curious how it works. Seems like Meaghan Tyrell, Meg Carney and Jillian Wilson won't be playing this summer according to the post.

I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure there is an online application somewhere to be drafted and the process goes from there. I will say I’ve been surprised in the past few years seeing the # of players get drafted and not end up playing

You could at every game last year. These games don’t come close to selling out.

Are they holding it at the same venue as last year (US lacrosse)? Nice facility, but it would be really good if they would move the event around to different locations to give other fans a realistic chance of going to the games. Say Philly, Long Island, Syracuse/Rochester.

The attendance in Maryland has been anemic. Let’s try someplace else.

I vote Boston! Look at the crowds BC has been able to draw in from that area (or even Syracuse). They could sell out a stadium easily up there with those stars.

Do it like the men . Play on weekends . Pick 3/4 venues and play at those . Only housing kids for Fri- Sunday

I think unless you are a coach, doing lacrosse as your full time gig, or have 4/5 weeks you can work remote it is tough for some new/past players. If you are working in a traditional job hard to ask for 4/5 weeks off. Thats why playing on the weekends only would prob be easier for some.

Tyrell didn't sign due to injury.

Point changes:
— A goalie will receive five points per save, down from six points
— A goalie will lose two points instead of one point for goals against
— Players will lose 10 points instead of eight points for turnovers
— A player will be awarded 14 points for caused turnovers, an increase from 12 points

Some things never change, 11-10 Apuzzo, final. Came from
behind to win it. That girl is just really hard to beat. Team A
had a little more left in the tank down the stretch, that cost
Team M big time. Think that's the first time I've seen Ally gassed,
just wasn't able to be her usual self in the last few minutes. Very
competitive game, good to see wlax being played.
