Trying to figure out what this means, are these the only teams going forward that are considered for the tourney? Can a team not considered, be added based on a big win?

It is the current top list from whom they would rank for the available slots. If you go to the page at ncaa.com, there are links to the actual spreadsheets they use to calculate the various measures used to put this group in the list.

Unlike in past years, these teams are listed alphabetically rather than the past practice of ranking them in order. I suspect that is because the COVID issue may easily knock out teams, and creating an actual ranked list publicly might lead to a problem at this time.

But the process of ranking the teams occurs each week for the remainder of the season. The final version of the list is generally not made public (as it happens literally only a couple of hours before the selection show on the last Sunday of the regular season (waiting on those last few conference tourney results).

Right now it looks like I might have some time to gather the results for the raw numbers used so you can see where each team on the list ends up for the published ranking criteria.

From last year's manual the criteria used:
Section 2•5 Selection Criteria Required Selection Criteria.

The following required criteria shall be employed by a governing sports committee in selecting participants for NCAA championships competition [Bylaw 31.3.3; Criteria for Selection of Participants]:
●Availability of student-athletes.
● Application of nullification.
●Division II in-region winning percentage.
●Division II winning percentage.
●Division II strength of schedule (opponents’ average winning percentage and opponents’ opponents’ average winning percentage).
●Division II head-to-head competition.
●Results versus Division II common opponents.

Sport-Specific Selection Criteria:
●Division II results versus teams with a winning record.
●In-region strength of schedule (opponents’ average winning percentage and opponents’ opponents’ average winning percentage).
●In-region Ratings Percentage Index (RPI).

Additionally, input is provided by regional advisory committees for consideration by the Division II Men’s Lacrosse Committee. A Division II governing sports committee must contact a regional advisory committee before making its final selection of teams if the committee selection differs from the regional advisory committee’s. Coaches’ polls and/or any other outside polls or rankings are not used by the Division II Men’s Lacrosse Committee for selection purposes. All Division II games, including provisional and conference tournament games, will be used for selections.

From an article at thesac.com (SAC conference website) - the final published regional ranking on May 5 will not be alphabetical but in ranked order...

That means we will have a good idea of who is on the bubble during that final conference tourney games (for those conferences which are holding them)...

D2 has been listing teams under consideration for the first one or two regional rankings in all sports. This is due to the disparity of games played and extremely limited non-conference games. The teams considered can and do change. Just look at it as a regional ranking with the teams sorted alphabetically. Everything will work out in the end.

I think they are still a good possibility and I ran my KRACH numbers again. L-R, Tampa, and Wingate followed by Indy, Mount Olive, Lindenwood, Stone and Abbey right together in that order.

GLVC championship is final weekend so one or more of Indy and Lindenwood can still play themselves out of the NCAA tourney depending on what losses they may take.
