Trump is leaving Romney off the COVID-19 task force, but Biden will probably make Romney vice chairman of the COVID Commission. Over/under on the number of IMPOTUS tweets about that?

Given some of the idiots we see on TV protesting, gotta imagine many would get a brain freeze looking at the forms.

It is a very good bet that those right wingers protesting in Michigan and Minnesota will be the first ones with hat in hand begging the government to bail them out if they get sick. All their ideals about the greatness of free market capitalism will all go to hell.

What I find totally amusing is the reaction these same folks had to Ebola. The right wingers made a huge stink over how everything Obama did was wrong. How dangerous it was, how many people could die, we had to shutdown borders, etc. The science was right, and ruled the day and Obama followed that course. Now none of this is a big deal, so a few 10 or 100 thousand or even a million die. No big deal. The only thing consistent in their reaction, ignore the science and lets shutdown borders.

The other consistency is that Hillary was responsible for Benghazi but Trump has nothing to do with this fiasco

Widespread testing a barrier for reopening country as White House seeks plan
White House aides scramble to ramp up testing in the U.S., but there's no clear plan yet.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white- ... n-n1185516
The White House is exploring ways of drastically increasing coronavirus testing in the U.S., as President Donald Trump’s aides scramble to put measures in place that might make it feasible for him to meet his goal of reopening the economy in parts of the country by May 1, according to four people familiar with the efforts.

Multiple ideas are under consideration for increasing diagnostic testing and testing for coronavirus antibodies as well as how to target those tests to geographic areas and specific industries to open as much of the economy as possible, these people said.

One proposal that’s been considered would involve the federal government partnering with major technology companies in an effort aimed at increasing testing capacity to at least 3 million tests a day, according to three people familiar with the plan. Some administration officials, however, cautioned that amount was unrealistic and said different types of testing would be strategically deployed.

A senior administration official said the White House is “close” to making an announcement on a plan.

Another idea that’s been discussed would use the Defense Production Act to rapidly scale up testing, according to one person familiar with the discussions, though officials played down the idea given that Trump has been resistant to more consistently deploying that presidential power since he would rather use the law as leverage to get companies to take such steps.

The push to ramp up testing reflects an acknowledgment by some of the president’s advisers that, despite his insistence that testing is working well, there are problems with access and that significantly increasing the number of tests per day will be critical if the economy is going to reopen. Trump said he will announce guidelines on Thursday for reopening the economy.
Just think what the result would have been if the administration did this say in early February, when Trump seemed to think his ban on some China travel would fix everything...
There are indications that a big part of our testing shortfall is our hodge podge of processing labs -- Individual city & state heath dept labs, hospital labs of all sizes & capabilities, university labs, private company labs, fed agency labs. Coordinating them must be like herding cats.

We're not a compact consolidated country like Germany or S Korea where you can call them all together in a train station & figure out a plan.

In the daily briefings, Dr Birx is diplomatic & tries to stay constructive, but you can see her frustration simmering just below the surface.
So who or what is frustrating her?
Questions from reporters?
The difficulty of herding those cats?
The lack of a direct federal response after flubbing it so badly out of the gate on testing?
Trump saying stupid stuff while she has to stand around waiting?

All of the above?
The inherent difficulty in getting a hodge podge of labs in 50 states, with varying equipment, capabilities & proficiency, to implement a hodge podge of test kits with varying accuracy, procedures, & components, in use on an unprecedented scale.

We were not structured or prepared for an undertaking of this magnitude, in a short time frame...ever, even before Trump.
Details of our unresponsive, over-commercialized, fragmented, independent contractor based testing hodge podge.
Like everything else in our health care system, taxes & billing drive the unwieldy structure.
https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01068-3

It functions adequately (barely) when individual patients can be held hostage to the money grubbing bean counter administrators,
but it's unresponsive when it must be upscaled in a crisis.

We're making progress. We've advanced to the point where you can now stick a Q-tip in the front of your nose, put in in a vial of Red Bull or Mountain Dew, & drop it at PepBoys lab for processing.

Gotta hand it to the right wingers over that Ebola thing. Obama was to blame for the disease even though it occurred overseas and only 2 Americans (both of whom were medics who went to Africa) died from contagion. Yup, Obama derangement syndrome was infinitely worse than anything tRUMP was subjected to but he never cried about it like the Republican sissy-in-chief does today.

Planned protests in Arizona in support of re-opening the economy, but organizers of the event did urge people to remain in their vehicles during the protest. Really?

https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/arizo ... d-protests
According to one poster that is being circulated on a Facebook group titled the "Arizona Conservative Republicans," a "Patriots' Day Rally" has been scheduled at the Wesley Bolin Memorial Park at noon on April 20.

"Join fellow patriots who support the constitution, liberty & re-opening the Arizona Economy," a portion of the poster read.

Piddly amount in the grand scheme of things, but interesting that there's no discernible movement. BofA's local bankers know nothing, the chat line knows nothing about individual loans, so the answer is just to sit tight.

I agree, many small businesses may have struggled with the forms for a few days...BofA's portal was straightforward, but then the doc submission didn't match the original described formula, so you had to parse that out. And have the docs ready to roll. We did, but not so sure mom and pops would be quite so organized.

Yes sir, that part's really good.
Organizers of the event did urge people to remain in their vehicles during the protest.
Isn't that kinda like protesting all the social distancing stuff by having an orgy with a dozen blow up dolls?

It is a good thing they did not put Trumps picture on the check. I can imagine the creative artwork there.
The good news would be that with remote check deposit people would be able to cash their check AND keep Trump’s photo for their dart board.

Have you heard some of these idiots? Yes, idiots.
But worse than idiots, they are knowingly endangering others.

You want "moderate'? ok, not all of the protestors were idiots. Nor were all knowingly endangering others, as some were wearing masks, some were also not leaving their cars and staying distant from others. But they certainly appeared to be the minority.

But, yeah, I imagine the idiots among them would get a brain freeze looking at the forms. Making a sign or obtaining Trump campaign material, putting on some military style clothes, honking your horn, yelling at each other, chanting 'lock her up'...these are all pretty simple to do...filling out those forms correctly requires real concentration. I can understand why that could be frustrating!

I'm not complimenting the forms! They were a pain.

And that's before hearing that the money ran out...

You did a nice job of entering the MD lax spin zone. They may come across as idiots to you. I am certain to them they are exercising their rights under the 1st amendment. They are no different than many other say... far left protesters that express their anger just as aggressively and harshly. You do remember those folks blocking traffic and shouting " pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon" Were they also idiots in your esteemed opinion? When people want to take to the streets and protest, we may BOTH think them all to be idiots. Have you thought of what the alternative is? We could be living in a country where none of these "idiots" could protest without being thrown in jail. Would that make you feel better. i just found it odd for Mr I'm so temperate Mr moderate to suddenly become so judgemental. You do understand to those of us who read you preaching your gospel to us all every day you are sounding way out of character for who you claim to be.
