Afan, that’s not what I was saying at all. I was 100% agreeing with you. The point of the commentary I linked is that Democrat run cities and police unions are going to be repeating the same shi tty mistakes of Baltimore. And be shocked when the outcome is the same.

Republicans need to arrive with a plan. A coherent, thoughtful plan. It's the easiest political lay up in the history of American politics, and I'm just frustrated that they can't come in and say: our method of governing is better, and will get the results you seek.

I could list three things off the top of my head that Trump could do, that libs would sign on on the freaking spot, that would make Baltimore, Chicago, etc. better.

It's driving me nuts that the Republicans aren't lifting on finger to help. The Dems are a total mess in these cities. Get rid of them, FFS.

I am a huge advocate of giving every retiree their full SS benefit when they retire let them do with it what they want.

Know what happens then? Most will spend it fast, and then be out of money. Then they're either homeless beggars (and how many of those do you want in your neighborhood?), or they get MORE money from the gubmint because people don't much like having a bunch of homeless beggars around.

Then so be it. Stupid people do stupid things. If I receive that money, which is a pretty nice chunk of change, if I die, that money can be passed on to my loved ones. I really don't care about stupid people that blow their money. Their problem, not mine. So you have a problem with me having the chance to pass on what in theory is my own money? So if I croak the month after I retire all that money I paid in goes to the government? Screw that, give me my money up front. If stupid people don't know how to manage their money, tough rocks for them. I get older and my tolerance level for stupid people grows less and less every day. I would much rather my loved ones inherit it( and I know this is nonsense) You want to go and piss your money away. I got a cardboard box and a spot underneath a bridge for your dumb ass.

But that defies the reason SSI was created in the first place and even exists. To do that would be a rejection of its reason for existence in which case let’s eliminate it altogether.

The problem is IMO social security has been sold to the American people as an account set up for them in their name. I know I can check my SS report and every penny I put in goes all the way back to 1974. In reality is not my account. I have no control over the money. The best case scenario is live long enough so you receive every penny you put in. The worst case scenario, you die right after you retire and your money in your account then becomes the governments money. There are a whole host of changes that should be made to ss. You remember what happened when GWB wanted to let Americans take a small portion of their ss and invest it it the market. The boys and girls in DC shot that down in no time at all. SS is like a sacred cow to the folks in DC. They protect it as well as they do Ft. Knox.

Maybe it was sold that way but the actual papered up and codified accounting of SSI is not that. Sold by both parties, a politician problem not a side one.

Plus, I’m 42. You think you’ve got problems. How about what I’ve been putting in for nearly 25yrs? I may not see a single penny of it paying for people who lived longer than they should’ve.
