A founder of BLM with over one million followers on Twitter whom Democrats beg for endorsements. Yup, just ‘one guy’.

Anyway, here’s the tell: not one Democrat here has once bemoaned the mob going after anything. Know why? The Democratic Party is the mob.
Can't get any TDS libs to bite on this.

BLM is a front for democrat fund raising.

They don't want the issue resolved or even discussed. They want money. They want turmoil. Defund the Police!
BFD...you guys find more garbage to make an issue over.

Who gives a solid fig about this guy? He has a million followers...again, who cares.

Money and politics? Now you care? Don't like it, vote for people who are against CU.

Not sure I call it "good", but it is important.

I will never forget when I bought my first house. The deed (which originated in the early 1900's) contained a provision that said that the title was only transferable to a white person. Obviously the clause was not enforceable, but the fact that the language was even there was eye-opening.
Good if you want to be informed.

the comment was meant as a light-hearted way of acknowledging that, as reflected in the article. there is a lot of not so "good" in our history.
I knew what you meant. Did you ever watch the full frontline documentary on Dayton, Ohio? You may be either to sad or angry after watching it. We have a system that just isn’t sustainable. More and more people have less and less economic upward mobility. It’s ruling, gentry and peasants classes and t more and more wealth flows to ruling and gentry classes. I remember when families routinely went from government support, to working class and into the lower middle class. That’s a pipe dream for most people. Unfortunately you have to prepare your kids for college and hope it works out which may also be a pipe dream for many.
the evolution to globalism has had consequences. don't think they've necessarily been unforeseen. our political/lobbyist/corporate triumvirate is a cabal that won't be broken up until the people believe it needs to be, or should be. and even then, it won't be easy.

somehow or other, there's got to be a better way. and until it's dug into, the fruits of business will not be going to the workers. all for free enterprise, but corporations shouldn't be getting the free ride on the taxpayer's dime with the aid of byzantine accounting and legal teams, and of course your friendly neighborhood politician.
once or whenever the cabal gets broken, get smart people to figure it out. buy them out from apple or nike.

some ideas in the above might be good, maybe only if in conjunction with others. keep playing whack-o-mole until the outs are no longer there. but effective ideas are out there. now that we are in this discussion of equity, this is a result that can happen. advocating for overseas slave labor so your company can make a few more bucks, not pay taxes, in the interest of "the free market" rings pretty hollow. small businesses will be in shorter supply for a bit, maybe more than a bit. if our government isn't called upon to have private enterprise move this needle now, we'll be looking at just a larger ponzi scheme in pretty short order.
I had fierce debates back in business school. It was like “why are you in an MBA program if you think like that”? My working class roots were showing. The stocks market has been incredible. How many people making $15.00 an hour can afford to put their money into a 401K and wait 30 to 40 years to get it? Some call it lack of discipline....I call it “not making enough money to afford that luxury”.

You should ask for a refund from your b-school; they ruined your common sense and curiosity.

Ban all new sales of semi-automatic weapons (handguns and rifles).

Band all handgun sales to civilians.

Institute a mandatory gun buyback program (all handguns and all semi-automatics weapons of any type).

Let’s do what every other rational modern nation has done and do what we can to prevent such shootings from happening. We need to treat gun violence like the public health problem it is (prevention) and not like medicine (putting band aids on the mayhem and murders).

Besides, there’s been a long history of an association between the gun industry and white supremacist movements and ideology. Time to disarm the domestic terrorists.

Doc - with all due respect - there is a long history of association between gun ownership and any level of success of the black community protecting itself.

You hear what you are saying right? ... let's make COPs the only people with GUNS??!!?? You are NOT going to find a whole lot of takers in the black community for banning guns. In response the typical leftist quip of "what do you need a gun for, are you going to fight the Army and cops when they show up?" the unequivocal answer is YES. The black community knows this. They have had to resort to it. In our lifetimes. Can a bunch of citizens defeat the US military with their planes and bombs and rockets? Maybe not, but numbers matter. And maybe, just maybe, there will be enough members of the military who when faced with the decision of (a) dropping a bomb on their neighbors because some pin-head power monger in DC (who could be Trump or his Dem equivalent) wants to make them do their bidding and (b) not - maybe that soldier will chose his countrymen over the governing class.

If the animosity and hyperbole keeps up, we all may have a chance to decide which is more important - a stupid political talking point or our freedom.

The US military attacking American citizens will never happen. When I was in the army I would have steadfastly refused ANY order to engage American citizens. We all pledged to defend the country against all enemies foreign and domestic. Our fellow Americans are not and never will be the enemy. Law enforcement needs to take care of that problem, if it ever becomes one.

So when either of you have a death in your family, are you expecting the rest of us to play this sad game of yours and say "why do you care about your dead relative? People were shot in Chicago over the weekend. How come I didn't hear a peep about that?"

Please stop playing this game. You're both better than this.
game?
Yes, game. You're both playing a petty game.

A man was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis. You're telling Americans that they're not allowed to get upset about that, and aren't allowed to fix the systemic issues that led to the murder......until there are no murders in Chicago.

You're both better than this.

.. you make a good point as far as it goes. Why are the COPs so nervous and trigger fingered to begin with? The fact that there are so many guns worries the COPs if you listen to them.

Guns are clearly a two edged sword that really aren't the issue or even a big part of the problem at this point. The disparity and treatment of whites vs minorities is the big problem. The guns aren't the ones making this choice. We have been kicking this can down the road for a couple hundred years with it getting better each generation, but we still have people who think this situation is alright. If time isn't really up, I think the minorities have decided it really should be. And they are right.

254 murdered by guns in one city, Chicago, year to date.

Thankfully Democrats focus on urgent priorities like tearing down statues of white Jesus and Andrew Jackson.
So far only one person has suggested tearing down the white Jesues images....pretty far cry from your assessment of all Demcocrats.
yeah the white jesus thing is a bit of a misdirect by the right.

although with that said - there are people in the political extremes who would run with those kinds of thoughts with actions if given any wiggle room to do so. The extremes are filled with extremists (who knew?). The extremists have been encouraged by a combination of finding like-minded lunatics on the internet and the media's last gasp efforts for eyeballs making them willing co-conspirators by giving the haters air-time....
I guess I'm seeing how a white guy see's JC as white, while a black guy may see JC as black....doesn't feel extreme.

This is so spot on...one mans extreme is another mans norm.
If you believe that Jesus is your savior it should not matter who he was regarding his skin color. I can think of a few denominations of FRW christians that would have a problem with it though.
That’s right. Very early on, there was no image attached. Not sure there is much of a description in the Bible. Someone else can comment on it. My thought is this. If you are arguing about the “color” of Jesus, you ain’t no Christian.

isnt the media going to jump all over some local school district because security didnt approach the perpetrator?

and security will get dragged through the mud, fired, attacked on social media, death threats to the house, etc.

so the real question is- what do we send security in with- if it's a psychology degree, to talk with the shooter about mommy issues, i think security will board up behind a door instead. just a question.

DocBarrister

If the animosity and hyperbole keeps up, we all may have a chance to decide which is more important - a stupid political talking point or our freedom.
.. you make a good point as far as it goes.

I am all for getting guns off the streets. The streets would be far safer. I believe we have more guns than people in this country. Complete insanity. How are all these illegal guns making there way into our inner cities? Law enforcement is that bad in this country?

… ya really think???  I think Jesus, no matter color is safe regardless of whether a statue or some other icon is torn down. From my perspective these protestors are pretty tame and pretty disciplined. Obviously there are exceptions, but on the whole, pretty tame stuff to this point in time.

Well that's a convenient interpretation.

My intention was the exact opposite. If you're going to put thousands of people in the streets for weeks over the death of one black man,You should be able to generate some interest in the violence and slaughter of 100 blacks in Chicago over the weekend.

Instead nothing

YEP!

And their rightful desire to protest to call our attention to the issues is being co-opted (or at least attempted to be co-opted) by extremists from both sides - who have destructive goals rather than constructive.

Meanwhile the media throwing gasoline and matches on everything they see.

The vast majority of people who are decent and occupy the middle are bombarded by conflicting images and being told to line up on one side or the other. We need resist the urge to pick the sides being offered by the extremists: (a) tear everything down and rage against everything, because nothing is perfect, or (b) resist all change and fall into tribalism.

It just shouldn't be that hard to:
- fix our schools and our legal system/police force (to provide equal opportunity)
- offer people decent access to medical help (because that is what communities do for one another)
- fix our roads and infrastructure (because the value benefits everyone)
- make sure people clean up their messes (eg: no free rides regarding pollution and consumption of resources for profit)

and then get the heck out of the way.

What you clearly continue to miss, the one black man, this time, was just enough to make it boil over.

Get used to it...nothing changes until all of us are dead, maybe our grandchildren will get it done.
