Wow X 1,000.
E. Ward big hustle play to come up with the ball on the draw.
YC issued to BC. 93 seconds left, Cuse up 1 with the ball.
Buckle up.

GOOD!!!!!!!! They put it in the cage with the open net.
That's what I'd do too. 50 seconds to go.

Scoring with that much time left still makes one nervous.

Brillant play by Gary Gait and Syracuse to have to many players on the defensive side the final 40 secs of the game. It took the officials 20 sec to make the call and there is absolutely no penalty at that point of the game. Can't reset the 90 sec clock.

19-17, final. Bring the Marines to train with these Cuse gals.
Unbelievably tough and resilient.

the goat

honest question - does he get enough credit as an X's & O's coach..seems they always talk about him being creative but this run by Syr without their top 2 players is really amazing.

and yes, it was a heck of a strategy to put the extra player out there!

My opinion is that Gary and staff have steadily improved when it comes to x/o's. Defelise is a great addition as the defense was always very physical but now much better organized. There are some long time ACC coaches who have not kept up despite the "talent" on their roster. Good for GG, not just flash anymore. Great win.

Ngai wilted in the big games. That's why they snagged Hall. The numbers don't mean anything in this instance. It's the eyeball test.

I don't agree. If Hall was saving even say, above 45% on the season I could buy what you're saying but when you look at the numbers, it's a weird choice. While this season is tough to compare, Hall has been at or above 50% 4 times this season. Ngai was at or above 50% in 12 games, including games against Notre Dame, North Carolina and Virginia. I'm just curious why she isn't given a shot- you can say she choked in big moments but Hall has been no better and both have a very small sample size of "big moment" games. If I'm AWW, I'd have subbed Hall at the half, even for 10 minutes. You never know either way and I guess BC almost pulled it off. Almost- which means nothing.

So nice to see the fans of BOTH BC and SU enjoying the game and the weather today. Kudos to the ACC and UNC for their fan-friendly attendance policy. The game is the game but it's also a meaningful moment - maybe the last for some - for the family members who have been involved for so many years in their daughter's lacrosse journey. If only the leagues with no/limited fans policies - talking to you Patriot League - could be so undaunted.

Current goalie is 34% over the last 8 games. Why not buy a vowel and go with Ngai in the big dance? Or platoon at least. Granted there haven’t been a lot of softies, but it’s starting to feel like a recruiting promise more than a sound strategy at this point.

The numbers mean nothing here. Ngai came in for BC in 2019 during the last year of the great senior class which included the Big Three and a stalwart defense because Lauren Daly contracted mono. Ngai wasn't tested during the regular season because BC was beating everyone handily. When they got to the postseason Ngai wasn't dependable in the big games so she started getting pulled for veteran Lauren Daly. Her mechanics got all out of whack in big games, unnecessarily waving and sweeping her goal stick in hopes of snagging shots. She couldn't do it. She had that "deer in the headlights" look. If the staff had confidence in Ngai they never would have grabbed Hall from the portal. I don't know if Ngai would do better at this point. I have no problem giving her a shot. But if she hasn't been able to grow out of that stage she found herself stuck in back in '19, you'll see for yourself why Hall is the better bet.

So when it's all said and done, the ACC hardware should go to North Carolina in another blowout. They should rename the trophy. The ACC Jenny Levy Memorial Trophy. The only team that can beat NC this year is NC. Too much firepower. Just one of those teams with no seams in the armor.

Pretty hard to think otherwise, that team has got it all from A to Z and the odds of them taking home the hardware are pretty darn good (I don't like seeing teams go into the NC game undefeated, this one would be a good one for them to lose. It's just so very tough to not have one day when everything isn't clicking quite right and the ball's just not bouncing your way...not good to have that day on NC day). While UNC might take the hardware home, this Cuse team is the champion of grit, determination, and overcoming. I believe they've far exceeded the expectations of many after #51 went down and now again after #22 went down. A very gutsy team of champions indeed.
