Please no!!!
Haha. In fairness to them, they always get the short end of the travel stick. Driving up to the Island has a bad reputation, but it really isn’t all that bad if you time it right.
The last time it was on Long Island was when Stony Brook hosted and I'm pretty sure it was also a sellout. My favorite location is that soccer park in PA right on the river where they hosted it in 2016. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and tailgating.
Was that the famous MD/UNC OT battle? With the Men's games in Philadelphia that made for an amazing weekend for fans of both.
No that was the 2013 NC game at Villanova! The Philadelphia Union Stadium (Talen Energy Stadium, PPL Park, etc.) is the one on the river, just under the Commodore Barry Bridge
Yup! Either way, Philly is best location, lol.
I won’t disagree! Especially since the city and surrounding area is usually emptied out as everyone goes down the shore MDW.

Having school girls tourney down there definitely helps with attendance numbers but the place looks empty - not one person in the upper deck and both end zones are sparse with people.

New York has sectional semi's this weekend. That would certainly limit a lot of the best in that state participating.

Was thinking the same thing about New Jersey. We are earlier in the playoffs, but still, I doubt anybody would want to miss a game. Most of the playoff games were yesterday. Some today. None tomorrow. Tons on Tuesday.

I knew coaches in NY who forbade their players even trying out for that event.

It used to be one of the biggest recruiting events in the country.

This was prior to big club growth in my area so it still was a big recruiting event, especially for players whose team didn't make it to Cortland. Club growth has put a real damper on the interest in it- at least from my perspective.

It’s so far to get to for most of the hot beds. I’ll be interested to see what the attendance numbers are.
I'm curious about final attendance #'s. I have a rooting interest this weekend but no way I'm driving or flying to NC. I could easily do Baltimore, Philly, Boston even.
Attendance as per us lacrosse magazine was 7,702

That seems really high considering the place holds 10,000 and there were a lot of empty seats.

UNC beat MD 13-7 in Taylor Cumming’s senior year.
You are correct the same field the Terps beat the Heels on in the 2015 championship game. The OT thriller was at Villanova in 2013.

It does seem high. It’s a little bit higher than last year’s semifinal game, which also doesn’t seem right.

As I mentioned yesterday, I wonder if these numbers are based on ticket sales or actual attendees.

I have been at WakeMed several times. The main game camera was located behind the benches ... also where most of the fans are seated, behind their teams. We saw the "offside" of the stands for most of the broadcast. Based on having been at the facility in person several times, I think the ~7000 attendance seems on target.

Pretty sure the main camera was facing the benches looking at the stands with the upper deck that were completely empty.

If all these coaches want to grow the game, then they should hold the D1 and D3 championships in the same location. That would help grow the game.

Simple change but why are final 4 games for men’s and women’s never 3 hours apart. The 2.5 hour difference is never enough so why have they not changed this. Even if most games in the regular season are done in under 2.5 hours the final 4 games tend to be just a little bit longer with everything that is involved

Same in CT. Most CIAC qualifying games were played on Friday evening, but some were played on Saturday, and all of the first round games are on Tuesday. The girls who make the teams for the national high school tournament are usually the top players on their high school teams, and coaches don't want to lose them for playoffs.
