Agreed. I can also see Wheels!'s perspective in that Clemson did attract a veritable boatload of transfers so they're not a good example of a purely first year team. They boast 18 upperclassers (new PC safe word, folks--woohoo!) including a whopping 11 grad students. It's going to be a very interesting first year. Looking forward to it.
USF has taken a completely different approach as a first time program. They will have a majority of new 2023 and 2024 recruits plus some portal transfers when they hit the field in Spring 2025. I’m interested in following them, UNCC and will be watching Clemson this season.

Per the NCAA D1 official website -

#1 scoring offense in D1 at 21 pts per game
#2 scoring defense in D1 at 1.67 pts per game
#2 scoring margin in D1 at 19.33 per game

* please note this is only through the first 3 games of the year - does not take into account their most recent 22-2 victory over Gardner-Webb, which will only improve the stats.

Notre Dame in South Bend on Saturday. Should provide an insight into Clemson's juggernaut status.

The scary thing is they are only #2 in scoring defense and margin. That means another team has played even worse competition.

it's a bit of an outlier, but Penn is #1 in scoring defense at 1 goal per game and scoring margin at 20 per game. Of course they only played 1 game, a 21-1 victory over LaSalle.

worked from home today and had waaaay too much time on my hands!

I agree with what you are saying. Clemson with [RPI ranking last year] Wofford [105], Furman[62], Winthrop[106], GW[87], Longwood[108], Campbell[75], Radford[112], Presbyterian[115] is scheduling similar to Duke's (last year), a perennial top 10 team. Duke's schedule was indeed weak for their program quality.

I think that Clemson wins 6 of those 8 OOC games. I wouldnt be surprised if they win them all.
Clemson WILL WIN all OOC games. Kwolek scheduled OOC games with purpose - all easy wins for a new team loaded with transfer talent. Need to load up on wins in first year or two with these transfers in hand before "regular" players start rolling into lineup. SO what better way to recruit than to light up pretty bad teams. All part of the plan...

Can they compete with BC this week?

I don’t think so unless bc has another down game. I think bc defense contains Clemsons hilcoff, new and Tilson and I don’t believe they have enough other weapons to score a bunch on bc. Uva held them to 7 goals and I think bc defense is strong. Other than the big loss to unc, bc has been very solid and I would expect them to take care of business….

I’m not a Duke fan but without a goalie that can compete possession to possession they are a huge disadvantage, especially against ACC shooters. I don’t know why both last years starter and the sophomore are not playing? Injuries? And for how long? Dukes netminders have flown under the radar with their weak as Clemson schedule. Clemson will come back to earth against true ACC talent the rest of the way. BC 19-8!

Talk about moving the goal posts. Weren’t you the one saying you thought all ACC teams would take them behind the woodshed? Up on ND headed into the 4th, win over #13 Duke, and still not good enough for this poster. I’m more interested to see how Duke plays Yale tonight, can they get a W over the top contender in the Ivy League? What does that say about the Ivy in general?

Secondly, best wishes and prayers to Coach Kwolek and her family. Incredibly tough news to hear but it seems like there is an outpouring of support for her.

Injured. The announcers said both teams’ starting and back up goalies are out injured tonight.

I don’t think DeRosa or Everson have played at all this season. Maybe at the very start. I’ll still stand by the wood shed comment. “Close” isn’t winning and the high school level Duke goalies ( see tonight’s game) gave Clemson the opening they needed and won’t see again.
But load up the fireworks and light show because the Best recruiting classes are coming.
