We sent more warships nearer Taiwan & through the Taiwan Strait. We sent a USN support ship into Taiwan for a port visit.
Look how China has reacted. Given what has happened in Hong Kong, imho, Taiwan is in significantly greater danger.

If you listen to that podcast tech linked of the journalist who was there, who has primarily been studying tactics of antifa and anarchist organized violence, he said there were few guns visible, that the paramilitary at the vanguard had appropriated other insurgency tactics ala those he'd been studying, full protective gear, helmets, masks, gas masks etc, and they utilize materials from on site as weapons, eg pipes, flag poles, bricks, leg chairs, whatever they can break off and use. Organized, pre-planned, tactical, using the magnitude of the mob as 'cover'. Eccentrics mixed in and mob dummies of various stripes encouraged to support, given guidance and instruction as they did.
