And gee whiz golly, Trump managed to "confirm our alliance with Taiwan to maintain their independence" without coming anywhere near Taiwan, Old Salt. Must be that magic letter R again!
Boy, it's going to be great catching the next four years of you trying to invent things to complain about with Biden------while hoping all of your fellow posters forget how you handled the same issues with Trump. (pssst.----none of us have forgotten )
Have fun! I know we will enjoy it!

Great. So you're angry that Trump didn't make this visit....is that it?old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:29 pm Never mind. It's not worth trying to have a serious conversation.

I'm not angry at all. Next move in the chess match. You asked what Biden should do next. That's my reply. Given what's been happening in Hong Kong, it would be a good signal from the incoming Biden admin that we continue to support Taiwan's sovereignty as seriously as we did under Trump. A ship visit is quick & easy.a fan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 8:04 pmGreat. So you're angry that Trump didn't make this visit....is that it?old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:29 pm Never mind. Right. Because Trump's support for Taiwan was SO serious-----that he came nowhere near Taiwan in Four Years. But you think Biden should start his relations with China by doing what Trump didn't do.old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:10 pm ]I'm not angry at all. Next move in the chess match. This is your serious answer? Really?
The chess move here is to keep the Trade War going that's royally F'ing American consumers and business......and then pick a fight with China over Taiwan? So move closer to a Cold War?
Pass.
So....Taiwan is in greater danger after Trump's saber rattling...old salt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:02 amhttps://www.npr.org/2020/10/21/92552893 ... na-s-wrathMDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:08 pmHow "seriously" did we support Taiwan during the last 4 years?old salt wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:10 pmI'm not angry at all. The 7 links above lay it all out. Compare that to what Trump's predecessor's did. They would not even acknowledge Taiwan's existence.
We sent more warships nearer Taiwan & through the Taiwan Strait. We sent a USN support ship into Taiwan for a port visit.
Look how China has reacted. Given what has happened in Hong Kong, imho, Taiwan is in significantly greater danger.
I have been paying attention. Trump made tiny, tiny steps for Taiwan, careful not to go too big.old salt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 1:08 amSee above. You know not of what you speak. Out of curiosity, anyone got pictures of the weapons these try-hards used to breach and terrorize the Capital?Brooklyn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 9:55 am A man sent his girlfriend’s brother a selfie while storming the Capitol, officials say. The brother is a federal agent.

When Thomas Fee got a text on Jan. 6 from his girlfriend’s brother asking if he was in Washington, he responded with a selfie inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda as dozens of others who had just stormed the building waved flags behind him, federal officials said.
In one message, Fee wrote he was “at the tip of the spear,” according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday.
But Fee’s girlfriend’s brother wasn’t asking out of simple curiosity — he is a special agent with the State Department. The agent, who isn’t identified in court documents, later turned the evidence over to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Fee, a recently retired New York firefighter with a history of racist complaints, surrendered in Queens on Tuesday morning, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District told the New York Post. He is charged with unlawful entry of the Capitol and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

If you listen to that podcast tech linked of the journalist who was there, who has primarily been studying tactics of antifa and anarchist organized violence, he said there were few guns visible, that the paramilitary at the vanguard had appropriated other insurgency tactics ala those he'd been studying, full protective gear, helmets, masks, gas masks etc, and they utilize materials from on site as weapons, eg pipes, flag poles, bricks, leg chairs, whatever they can break off and use. Organized, pre-planned, tactical, using the magnitude of the mob as 'cover'. Eccentrics mixed in and mob dummies of various stripes encouraged to support, given guidance and instruction as they did.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 11:18 amOut of curiosity, anyone got pictures of the weapons these try-hards used to breach and terrorize the Capital?Brooklyn wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 9:55 am A man sent his girlfriend’s brother a selfie while storming the Capitol, officials say.
