Wingate: Willie Grieco (A) in portal.
3x First Team AA. Quarterback type. Some eye-popping seasons. Could see some decent schools going after him.

Johns Hopkins could be a good landing spot for him. Blue Jays will need a playmaker next year.

And why is that
Because you can’t rely on Jacob Angelus powering the engine every single game.
Angelus, Grieco, and Mendelez would make a heck of an attack.

Had you even heard of this Grieco kid before two seconds ago?
Jays are not going to pursue
Why not?

I'm not sure if a D2 transplant is the answer the Jay's need at attack. He's an effective D2 dodger/feeder, I am not sure how that translates to D1/B10G though.

Even in Division II, you can’t score over a hundred points unless you can really play.
He reportedly has the skill set for a motion offense. Even if he sits on the bench, that’s a pretty good bench warmer to have. PM’s system values players who can score and pass, dodge and play off-ball. It’s not a system that thrives on just one playmaker and a bunch of finishers.

Curious as to your read on what PM's strategy is going to be this year. Given the state of the roster (i.e. pretty deep with lots of contributors) and depending on who takes a fifth year (Marcille, Angelus, Szuluk), I think the Jays won't be big players in the transfer market and will be looking only to targeted areas (a range shooter and a fogo maybe?) and only looking at guys who are true difference makers. Wouldn't be surprised to see them land one of the Princeton or Brown guys personally.

I would be very surprised if they are big players. They weren't huge players last year when there were more holes to fill and now there are fewer. I could see maybe one or two guys. There's talent returning at pretty much every position, along with a solid incoming freshman class and a few rising sophs who will be bigger factors. A D2 quarterback is not in the cards. There will be an opening at lefty wing attack with Degnon gone but you can fill that in-house with Collison, Grimes, or incoming frosh Sorichetti who looks ready to play right away. The specialty positions might be another area to look at. The FO and goalie rooms might need another body.

I think that's right. I wouldn't be surprised by a proven SSDM either.

Not saying whether PM pursues or not, but why shouldn’t there be room for the best attackman in Division II?
We got one of the best goalies from Division III, and he’s done a fine job for us.

Surprised that no one has mentioned Matt Wright (LSM) from UNC is in the portal. Should be a big get for whoever can land him. I'm guessing Georgetown, given the recent Chapel Hill -> DC pipeline.

My money would be on Georgetown... or Cuse, since he is Canadian. Need some experienced poles over there.

Not the biggest name like Handley or English but I actually think this kid could be the biggest prize of them all if he plays elsewhere next year.
