Thinking Mendoza’s interview went well. No word out of Middlebury yet, so it looks like he lands at FDU.

I find this very hard to believe
Reasonable response, I felt the same way when I saw the list. you can be "shore" there was lots of long tenured assistants applying for it as well ;) .

Any news yet? Hendrix is leaving the SAA and it seems like others are exploring the option........tough position for Rhodes Lacrosse.... if they don' have an AQ and their nearest opponent is leaving after 2025. How concerning would the potential loss of an AQ, increased travel and low enrollment be to a new coach???

This can't help in the recruiting process:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Almost a week after a Rhodes College security officer was shot at in a carjacking, neighbors around the college say they are fed up with crime around the city and their community.

Two 18-year-olds have been arrested for that incident.

Heard they had a current LL head coach on campus this week.

Head Coach? That is interesting. Only two current LL coaches come to mind :geek:

Only one LL head coach played two SAA teams last year and had success..... but went 1-6 in LL league with around a .500 record

Yeah but that coach surely doesn’t have any experience coaching south of the Mason Dixon line…

Why would he leave Skidmore for Rhodes?

Probably the same others have left. Remember years ago Coach Corc left after winning conference and making NCAA’s. The reason back then was lvl of support. Plus now with 4-5 teams that they will never beat, I think it makes sense for JM to look at opportunities outside of Skidmore.

Understandable but why Rhodes? is the level of support better? are their facilities better? SAA is on shaky ground with potentially no AQ? is the location better? is it at least a lateral move???

Glass ceiling in the Liberty (better chance to be in the playoffs and get to NCAAs in SAA at Rhodes)

From what I've been told in the past, support is there.

Definitely a little bit of an upgrade, minus the location (but there are spots in and around Memphis you can live without worrying about certain crimes being committed)

Should be interesting. If the SAA falls apart, which is looking like a possibility .......we will see if the support is there or not for lacrosse. Seems like Rhodes is way behind Centre, Berry and Skidmore is all aspects w/o campus safety concerns. Seems like a risky move for a quick flip and get out if lucky.

Rhodes is way better academically than any other team in the SAA. Seems like you are a Rhodes hater for no reason 🤣. Rhodes is easily the best coaching offer out there right now, and a very easy school to recruit to with a huge ceiling.

Not a Rhodes hater at all......... I really want to see the growth of the game. Sorry, for sounding like that! .....Rhodes had some success pre-covid but hasn't seemed to reach that so called potential since..... Has something changed in how the college views the program? Trying to understand the logic in the move. I get it, he is 1-6 in the LL, with a pretty solid OC record. You can read that a lot of ways and I'll leave that up to others. Career wise it just seems very risky unless the pay is 75k+ and your middle name is "Danger". Go Berry!!

A little confused why you would say they are behind :?: While they may have not been able to get over the Centre hump, Rhodes has dominated Berry in their H2H over the last decade (yes I know most have been good/close games)

Some of these coaches that are making moves aren't always about $ as we know and there are other factors. We can look at some of these options with a raised eyebrow, but whether a coach has been at a place for 1 year or 10 years, if any coach (and his family) feel like this is what is best for them, God bless em (as we know there has been an influx of coaches leaving the profession at the Division II and Division III level). I am pretty sure it wasn't a knee jerk reaction and maybe now is the time to strike while the iron is hot (2 wins over both the NESCAC and SAA and a Centennial school) . Saratoga Springs is definitely beautiful (and expensive) but you still have winter in Upstate New York
