Thanks for posting these interviews - they are great. Question - why are they still doing zoom type press conferences instead of live? is the press not at the game or are they not allowed to be in the same room? It's so awkward to do it this way.

You're welcome. Thank seacoaster. He asked about it yesterday. Yeah--I agree. The zoom pressers are strange and unwatchable. I like a table with chairs and microphones and bottles of water.

I hear what you are saying, but I actually have come to like the zoom sports press conferences, though they can be a bit sterile.

Under the traditional format, sometimes the questioners aren’t miked up so you don’t hear the questions. Also, they are often shouting over one another.

The zoom process is more orderly; you can hear the question and answer.

But it is about to go the way of the dodo bird.

But, yes, there certainly are advantages to a live press conference. It can be fun if a coach and a couple of players are sitting at a table right next to one another. Some of the interchanges can be entertaining.

Here's Gary Gait's presser if you haven't already seen it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzZ9ho894jc&t=5s
everyone should watch this presser from Gary Gait - really enjoyed it. a couple of take away's

- good natured ribbing on his jacket/tie
- NU committed 50 fouls!! can't find that in the box scores
- He shouted out to the Tyrrell sisters and Ward- calls them the "house of Tyrrell", and great jab at the Tewaaraton selection committee for leaving Meghan Tyrrell off the final list and that "she would take a national championship over an individual award any day"...love it!
- He made it a point several times to talk about the strength of the ACC, top to bottom, best conference in the country playing the hardest schedule and prepared them for this game. Knocked the BIG for their decision to play conf only and that NU wasn't necessarily as good as their stats because they only played against an average BIG conf (im paraphrasing).

There was a poster on laxpower (forget who it was) who would regularly provide a highbrow fashion commentary on Gary’s outfits. Miss those posts. They were priceless.

Rewatching bits and pieces. The Heels also lost their composure at the end of this game. The yellow on Kerrigan Miller at 1:17 of the 2nd half. Mere second later (:52) Wakefield gets whistled off. Both veterans making stupid decisions at the worst possible time.

One minor adjustment I would have liked to hear (not see) during this broadcast was turning the field mic down nearest the North Carolina sidelines where a certain leather-lunged staff member was bellowing guttural instructions and exhortations repeatedly every time the Eagles had the ball in the offensive end. You often hear field mics turned down in a specific area on NFL broadcasts when a loud fan becomes too “colorful”.

Spotted Mallory Hasselbeck in the stands after the Mossman goal to put BC up 9 to 5.

There were some solid scoring chances for Carolina down the stretch but Rachel Hall was there to hold the fort. Sometimes the Carolina shots selection was at fault. Ally Mastroianni had a free position shot directly into Hall’s stick. Mastroianni didn’t make an attempt at a fake. Hall didn’t have to move even a fraction of an inch to make the save. Still other decent shots were good saves by Hall. Sheehan Stanwick Burch called Rachel Hall her player of the game. Hard to argue with her. It wasn’t a case of bad shot selection or shots going high or wide down the stretch. Most of the Tar Heel shots were dangerous and right on but Hall was there and she had to move to make the saves. Stellar goaltending performance.
