The same FCC buddy of Obama who tried to silence talk radio.

25% tariffs on Irish Whiskey and Scotch. This is a serious attack on our allies in the UK. This is not chump change.

Fake news - they rolled over and gave talk radio even more power to do whatever they want.youthathletics wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:01 pm The same FCC buddy of Obama who tried to silence talk radio.

Time to stock up on my favorite grower Champagnes, Pet-Nats and Cava. Many specialty cheese shops had already cut back on some obscure cheeses like Valençay and Tetilla. This will further tighten selection as well as jack up the costs.

Yep. This sucks. None of this is good for anyone.

And with the auto bailout it was expected that the money was to be paid back (and it was with interest) if the companies survived. No such expectation here.foreverlax wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 9:51 am"Tough to keep straight everyone rules that apply to others, but not themselves."runrussellrun wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2019 2:23 pmUnless an article contains a recipients list and the actual dollar amount the "Farms" get........stop wasting our time.
Add that to the recent visit of Sonny Perdue (Ag sect'y) to Wisconsin, where farmers came away from the meeting thinking the small/midsize dairy farm was highly endangered...

My 3rd generation dairy farmer friend would vehemently agree with that thinking.RedFromMI wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 10:44 amAnd with the auto bailout it was expected that the money was to be paid back (and it was with interest) if the companies survived. Chapter 12 Farmer Bankruptcy new filings have totaled 796 cases from fiscal 2016 to fiscal 2018 years. Wisconsin had 166 filings. Fiscal year is a calendar year from 1/1 to 12/31.

Re: The Nation's Financial Condition
I go off of the audited annual reports filed with the USDOJ EOUST.
796 total new filings for the three years.
Bear in mind that Cargill wouldn't file under Chapter 12. It would most likely use Chapters 7 or 11.

Re: The Nation's Financial Condition
Just checked a Wisconsin public radio source - they claim that in 2017 alone 500 were lost. The 1600 number is correct, but not bankrupt, includes bankrupt and merged. That represents loss of 19% diary farms. Milk production is about the same (flat over the 3 years). So you have fewer / bigger farms and likely significantly lower employment numbers. Diary farmer suicides are up. I guess they won't complain this election.jhu72 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 3:15 pmHow many nationwide? PS - the 166 number above is correct for bankruptcy filings.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue told reporters following an appearance at the World Dairy Expo in Madison that it’s getting harder for farmers to get by on milking smaller herds. “In America, the big get bigger and the small go out,” Perdue said. “I don’t think in America we, for any small business, we have a guaranteed income or guaranteed profitability.”

Re: The Nation's Financial Condition
In case anyone is interested. First Friday of each month economic data is released.
https://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t17.htm
Ton of great information provided by government resources. The thing that concerns me most about this administration, which is well illustrated in Michael Lewis’ most recent book (Fifth risk) is that it has made many successful efforts to reduce the amount of information available to its citizens. Very discomfiting for me, someone who mostly uses economic info but having learned how much valuable information on weather and energy, amongst other resources, that is useful to our lives in many ways.
To me, this is much better than the derivative which will always bias something of the author on either side, in an article or news story.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah
