K D is an awesome performer. I suggest her performance at the Juno Awards was the best she ever did.Leonard Cohen was right.
Meanwhile Pentatonix is awesome

Yes sir, many people have butchered this song but KD's not one of them. Her version can only be done by her and it's phenominal.
This little girl siezed her moment and just killed it too.

Echoing earlier. Cohen said he cried the first time he heard KD sing it. Have to listen to this version now. I find myself wishing Shrek never used it. I remember when it was first released it was this jewel not many people knew

Leonard Cohen himself said after hearing KD Lang perform "Hallelujah" for him as he received a songwriting award "Well, I think we can lay that song to rest now!
Best ever, IMHO, Leonard live in '88 (?) (Jeff Buckley close 2nd):

Sharing it with the soccer programs....bleh. Wake me up when another program of similar caliber constructs a shrine SOLELY to the lacrosse team directly next to the field on which they play.HowieT3 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 12:29 pm Looks like the Cordish Center won't be alone for much longer.
I'm sure this is sacrilege but Buckley's cover is the definitive version of the song, IMO. Even better than the original. Most modern covers of the song are really riffing off Buckleys version, not Cohen's.tech37 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 5:18 pm

Petro's message on Twitter:
A great weekend welcoming our newest family members. The start of a new journey. 19 years and the first days with our freshmen never gets old. Can’t wait to watch their development and the contributions they make to the university and our program.

This is so funny, and there certainly are no wrong answer here. People like what they like and don't like what they don't like, but the different likes and dislikes is pretty wild.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 1:02 pmI'm sure this is sacrilege but Buckley's cover is the definitive version of the song, IMO. Cohen's version, tech's favorite, I find to be just awful and ranks real close to the bottom of the list of performers I'd like to hear do the song. Buckley's version is just slightly above.
This little amature hack with the angelic voice does a pretty nice job, IMO (am sure you two will just love it)....

DMAC. I stumbled over it a few years back and lined it a lot. Another version I like is the IDF version.

I hadn't ever heard of them either, glad I have now, thanks OC.
Pretty darn good (gotta love those light colored eyed brunettes too...always striking). Now I know who IDF is as well as who The Cowboy Junkies are..thanks, tech.
Have a listen.

Jaronski sounds like a beast. One hundred seventy six gbs?!? And he takes faceoffs and scored 30 goals on attack while his “day job” was playing LSM and close defense?!?!?
Petro needs to keep this kid on the field at all times ... faceoffs, wings, LSM, man-down defense, close defense, SSDM, attack, man-up offense ... anything.
Jaronski could be the longpole faceoff option if Hopkins encounters an opposing faceoff man giving them trouble. They need those gbs on the wings and defense. Should be great in transition offense as well.
Can’t recall another Petro-era player this versatile. Maybe Kyle Harrison?

Wombat Yes. Israeli Defense Force. I used to be involved with someone who did her three years. Lives on a kibbutz now. She exposed me to it. A member of her family was Shayetet 13.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2020
Jaronski's versatility and toughness will help him see the field early in his career. However I can't quite tell if this post is the usual DocB bombast or if you genuinely believe he could/should be playing 7-8 positions in college. Doing all that in high school might be possible if you're super athletic but it's not going to happen in D1. The game is much faster and the talent much better. His services are not going to be needed on the offensive end of the field like they were on his depleted high school team. If they give him a short stick it will be because they're trying to turn him into an SSDM permanently. I do think it's quite feasible that he runs some LSM/faceoff wings/does some work in transition. I've seen him play a few times and the kid is the real deal. But I assume you know how unrealistic it is that he remain on the field "at all times."DocBarrister wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:45 pmThank you, Cooter.Cooter wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 1:38 pm Hunter Jaronski named Phillylacrosse's Co-Player of the year:

It's also worth nothing that defenders/non-offensive players who score a ton of points in high school is not uncommon. Didn't Kyle Prouty break some sort of scoring record in NJ? Reinson also did quite a bit of goal scoring in high school if I recall correctly. Unsurprisingly, neither of them have been factors on offense thus far in their college careers.
Speaking of versatility, there's another kid coming in this year named Lucas Heverly—a FOGO out of California who is probably athletic and skilled enough to run midfield as well (or instead). However I heard he may be out for some of this fall with an injury, which never helps your case for seeing the field as a freshman.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2020
I hope the post about Jaronski was mostly tongue in cheek because the other fact that has to be taken into account was competition. It would appear that a team that has 14 players but goes 17-4 and undefeated in its league is an interesting fact to say the least. I did notice on the Friends League website that ANC played Hill Academy and lost 11-1. Invoking Harry's name when discussing a kid that hasn't even had a fall practice is beyond comprehension if done seriously - but that is the nature of this particular individual - hyperbole knows no bounds.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2020
I'm as excited to find the next John Crawley, Pat Fraser, kuuuuuhn, revelation out of nowhere as you are, but the reality we've seen is that as we identified last spring it's likely that of the 22 or so guys that will see meaningful minutes in game 1 next spring 17 of them played in the horrendous loss to notre dame and according to many of you 5 of the best are the ones that graduated.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2019 12:35 pm I hope the post about Jaronski was mostly tongue in cheek because the other fact that has to be taken into account was competition.
