NAIA Men's Lacrosse Officially Becomes a Championship Sport

Post by laxtea69 »

Exciting news for NAIA Men's Lacrosse! The sport has officially transitioned from invitational status to being a full-fledged championship sport. However, from what I understand, this means that all previous accomplishments during the invitational period won't carry over. So, while everything that happened still matters, the official records and leaders will essentially restart this year.

It's interesting to think about, but it also feels a bit unfair considering all the hard work that went into getting to this point. All the effort teams put into those seasons helped pave the way for this official status, but now it's like we're starting from scratch. What do you all think about this reset?

What does the change actually mean besides calling it a "Championship Sport."
Do more teams now make the tournament?
Are there different qualifications?
Looks like it is in Savannah again so no change there.
I don't understand how this really impacts anything besides Reinhardt now has the same number of national titles as Midland. :o
