My thoughts haven't changed much (where the administration support of the addition is concerned - they never did and still don't want it). That said, definitely starting to lean towards the "ain't gonna happen" camp. No reason for them to move forward with the court ruling and all that has to be sorted out with that first...LiveLaxLove wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 12:44 am@Spidey44 and @LaxPundit07 - would love to get your updated thoughts.LiveLaxLove wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 9:08 pmSlow rolling just in case. I have no reason to believe the addition of WLAX at FSU is in jeopardy. I think they are doing their due diligence on a hire.

Ok... I'll ask again in 2 months.LaxPundit07 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:42 amAt this point, I don’t know what to think. Maybe they are waiting to add men’s, then bringing Joe, Joey, and Alexa Spallina to Tallahassee? Or maybe Kayla and her assistant are in the mix for the job now and considering a fresh start? Or maybe John Sung is coming back from Northwestern Missouri State College (or wherever he was last exiled to) and convincing the admins there he can build the program without applying for 194883737 other jobs while there? My best guess is they haven’t been able to land someone yet because everyone who walks through the door quickly realizes they aren’t going to properly support it. They are just going to do the bare minimum thanks to the genesis of the program in the first place.LiveLaxLove wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 12:44 am@Spidey44 and @LaxPundit07 - would love to get your updated thoughts.LiveLaxLove wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 9:08 pmSlow rolling just in case. Heard at LAX 4 the Cure that FSU isn’t happening but haven’t seen any confirmation.
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Sue Murphy has been named head coach at Stetson. Strong hire for that program.

At one point, about 4-5 years into the program tenure (16/17/18ish), Stetson was only providing the program with one of the potential twelve NCAA allowed scholarships. Hoping for Sue’s sake they have increased this.

Cassidy spillis to USC as assistant coach
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Where would you like them to get their assistant coaches from?
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Good high school coaches are usually making 2x or more what a full time college assistant does since HS coaching isn’t a full time job

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
These assistants make very little money. The assistant coaches at Rutgers football both make over 1 million.
Schools hire folks with little or no experience for budgeting reasons. Where else are they going to get folks to work that hard for very little money.
BC did not pay its assistants for 8 years -- in fact, that the coach's husband was a de facto coach. They were going to Final Fours and paying nothing. Coach Walker convinced folks to put up scholarship money and built a great fan base of families. The school didn't do it, she did. This is the reason upper classmen are so important to these great teams -- many of those upper classmen are de facto coaches -- not just role models.
I believe my sources at Clemson that the school intends to fully support it WLAX program and will hire and pay assistants more than what many head coaches now make.

That’s how Clemson was able to retain Olin from going to Ohio State. And how they are gonna have Spallina there as an assistant in 25-26I believe my sources at Clemson that the school intends to fully support it WLAX program and will hire and pay assistants more than what many head coaches now make
Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
And I have been told the school plans to use NIL money to recruit and retain great players.

Re: Coaching Carousel 2024
Drexel women's lacrosse has been a very under-rated program the last 4 years. I thought the team would fall off when the previous coach left, not so. The coaches have done a great job. Alyssa Guido looks like a great hire for Colgate looking from the outside. I have not inside info, playing for Spallina gives her a good foundation in my opinion. Should take a few years to get it going.

I actually thought their last class was good. Three kids from the Grizzlies. A Steps, Capital and MA Elite kid. Not bad for a team that was having such issues. Would say they fall after the big three and then Lehigh and Holy Cross but far ahead of American, BU, Bucknell and Lafayette. No idea how Guido was and if she was at Drexel when Hillier imploded but she seems like she has a good pedigree.
