You seem to be in the know about USF. Can you confirm McClure is transferring to USF?

Thanks
That I don't know

Most everything previously said, and even by myself is pure speculation, but clearly people with bones to pick...

Sure, I may be a little biased because they didn't dick around with my kid as some other schools did

No matter how good your daughter is, whether top 20 recruit, top 50, or top 100, you will always hear how there will be a handful of coaches that tend to…..to put it nicely, not be on the up and up. Crazy how they push mental awareness so much but heck with kids. Just say “not interested” or “your number five in our list. We’ll get back to you”. It’s that simple. Idk. Been through it as well.

Recap for the newer posters here. DON’T KILL THE MESSANGER. This is stuff that has been posted in these posts already.

The male coach who happens to be the head coach’s husband is a creeper who has had a huge public fight with a former player on Twitter.

What else….. offered things to players, only to change the particulars after committing.

Committed 20 or so 2023s, 18 2024s. Kids committing were told that they were going to start play in 2023-24 and build the program from the ground up. Take the lumps but they are going to start a culture in Tampa. Then they transfer in a high level freshman from Clemson and changed the start time of when they were supposed to start playing. Commit another 11 2025s, 2 of them uncommitted already. On paper USF for 45 kids in 2025 without any transfers coming in.

Coaches told some 2024 players right before their NLI signing they weren’t going to be on the team when they started real play.

Also referred to as Holy Rollers. (Don’t see that as a problem but some do)

That being said. One of the attackers who transferred to Holy Cross had an exceptional fall/spring. 30 goals over 15 assists in 16 unofficial games. So. No idea what happened there. Another attacker committed to High Point. The other two attackers have not committed anywhere yet.
This thing grows every time a new post comes up. Figured I'd chime in since we've been following them (recruited my daughter, and were nothing but professional and she liked all of the coaches, including the creeper lol - she chose a different direction and wanted to be closer to home). We also have a good friend that's a 24 and hasn't been told to kick rocks yet.
First off, Laxbro clearly with a bone to pick. Only 2 posts and both bashing USF.
Point one - Creeper. No comment here, I enjoyed talking with him. BUT I suppose I could see that. I never saw the twitter beef, but do know he all of a sudden wasn't a coach at JU anymore.
They only committed 9 2025s. No one has de-committed (although rumors swirling one could be which wouldn't surprise anyone).
Roster is pretty big for sure. As I said in previous post could be close to/over 50 when the 2025s get there.
The 2024 USF decommitted apparently mom is a pain in the ass. I don't know them so don't know how true this is, but heard this from our friend whose daughter is going, so no reason not to believe them. Have not heard of any other 24s being told they wouldn't be on the team.
I've seen on social media the husband certainly seems to be religious. Could be worse things, but I can see where that's a turn off to some.
As far as the transfers go, they only have 4 which doesn't seem to be an overwhelming number. And I was told one of them dropped lax completely so really only 3.
Sure, I may be a little biased because they didn't dick around with my kid as some other schools did, but a lot of what has been said is pure speculation and definitely seems like coming from some disgruntled folks. Anyway, my $.02
We’ve discussed this before. I’ll stick up for the coaches. They were nice to my kid. I didn’t see anything that would make me not want to send her under the care of the McCords. But then again, we went on two dates. Jeffrey Dahmer or Bundy probably could look good for two dates.
Also have a friend whose daughter committed there. Any big program is going to have pain in the ass parents. They have a few super big ones. Hell, any small program will have pain in the ass ones.

lacrossemwj wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2024 5:13 pm Transfer commitments are often a puzzle to me. Recent transfer accounted from very low d1, bottom 20%, to top 30ish team. Played only a few games, a couple of goals. “Normal” high school resume. What’s the thinking?
If you arent asking for money, it isn't that hard. Lots of teams will bring in preferred walkons out of the portal and effectively give them fall ball as a tryout.
A friend of mine’s daughter is in the transfer portal - she begged, borrowed, and pleaded with multiple schools to be taken on as a walk on - none of the coaches she contacted would give her the time of day - not a single serious conversation. She did find a spot but it was a school that had recruited her in Hs. No one else would give her the time of day even explicitly asking for zero money.
This. Just a puzzle to me who gets picked up and why. I've known talented kids who have played and and havent ben picked up - maybe academics? Then kids going from low programs to higher with basically no track record. I dont want to throw this girl under the bus because I know *nothing* about her, but the one that piqued my interest was a recent transfer commit from SDSU to Richmond.

Yeah this is the worst part of the recruiting process for the kids. It takes 2 minutes as a coach, or more likely an assistant, to just say thanks but we've decided to go in another direction. To say, you're in our second/third group and if you're still available if we get there we'd love to bring you in. It's not that difficult. The expectation on their end is that the kids are up front with them and they are more than willing to ask who else is recruiting her, where she's visiting next, who has she visited already. I get that the coaches are dealing with more emails and texts and calls than we can possibly imagine, but if you've initiated contact with a recruit and decide to move on, have the courtesy to tell her. And if you're not going to have that common courtesy you have no right to be pissed off if a kid doesn't call you to tell you that they're no longer interested. I think almost all parents make sure their kids do that out of courtesy and respect for the coaches that showed interest in them. Especially in the age of the transfer portal it's baffling that coaches would ghost kids. You never know when one of those kids you ghosted blows up somewhere else and wants to transfer and laughs at you when you try to recruit her out of the portal because you couldn't send a two line text message.

The worst was the gas lighting done by a coach after she committed that had completely ghosted her prior to her committing. I told her not to bother letting them know she committed because they had been blowing her off for a couple weeks with ZERO responses to her emails and texts. Still pisses me off.

Unfortunately they dicked around my kid. Went from “hey, you are our number one choice and will play as a freshman” to crickets to “hey what’s up can you come for an official” , Sure when, back to crickets to “hey what visits do you have and when.” And here is how you know they are messed up…. This may get me in trouble if they read this forum but whatever…. Asst coach asks my daughter do you have any visits this weekend. She says yes, I sent them to you. I have Team X (Top 25 team) “Come to USF instead, the football team is playing Alabama.” Daughter said she couldn’t do that, she made a commitment. (They had like 10 kids in for that visit.) That’s when we said probably not the place we are looking and committed elsewhere.

This is not the reason for the departures…seems like it had to do with the staff.
any chance you can elaborate - what about the staff?
Seems like the coaches portray themselves to be people they are not.
Confirmed that 3 of 4 transfers in portal from USF were asked not to return. Other is leaving to be closer to home.

Yeah, I get why you'd be pissed. Sorry she had to go through that. Not sure if any of us (except perhaps top 10 recruits) don't experience the bad side of the recruiting business.

I wonder how BC will reload through the transfer portal knowing so far there’s no big names like Rachel Clark & Emma Lopinto last year entering.

Yes, she played with my daughter at Furman. Easy to root for her. Had some injuries that set her back. I think USF got a steal.

From USF announcement post :

’m so excited for Syd to join the team and excited for us to work with her as a grad student! Just about ten years ago, Syd started attending our camps. She went out and made a massive name for herself: led Furman to a conference title as a FR, led Coastal Carolina to a title as a SR. She has a 5th year to take with us & she’s going to fit in great with our unit! 76 points last year and 156 in her career.

Really interested to see how USF does. Conference is undoubtedly weaker with the departure of Florida to the Big 12. JMU graduates quite a bit as well. Could they somehow be the 2nd best team behind them? With the line up they are trotting out, I could see them beating Vanderbilt and ECU in year one. They will be able to score some goals, but haven’t seen many defensive impact transfers come in.

I agree. Looks like 2nd. Probably needs another year or two to take JMU spot, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do.
