Just take the L kid. We have gone from the NCAA putting the entire teams’ travel, hotel and meals in its “dime” to pleading that players aren’t putting it on their credit cards. I’m sure they aren’t bro. They aren’t putting their tuition on their credit cards either. But their parents are! You are basing what can’t even really be called an argument on what you heard in a locker room. Looks like all of that disinformation that so offends you…is coming from you. You can keep backpedaling or watch some games but there is no path to being right.

It doesn’t sound like you ever played and I don’t know when I was pleading or backpedaling. Also I am not sure you are familiar with the demographics of D3 lacrosse families but I don’t think a lot of these parents are “putting tuition on their credit cards”. The majority of the top 30 D3 schools starters could easily play and get a scholarship to a lower tier D1 school, but they are fortunate to have the option to have parents that can afford to allow them to play at a great D3 lacrosse school without going into a lot of debt or “putting it on their card”.

Also I was fortunate to have a great locker room where if we knew teammates were having to pay to cheer the team on from the bleachers, the players & parents would have all chipped in to make sure no kid who ran sprints all year had to pay for the privilege to cheer his own team on.

1. Are players who are not among the 32 playing in a tournament game paying for their own hotels, meals and travel while other players have the NCAA pay? Are they not on the same bus?

2. Is this a recent change in the last decade?

What this weekend told us: St. John’s Fisher is much better than their record suggests and is playing great lacrosse right now. Next opponent, watch out! This was unquestionably the toughest bracket, and Wesleyan caught a tough break facing a super hot SJF team. Obviously, NESCAC remains the king of D3, and this weekend puts any argument to rest. Only 8 teams left, and 3 are from NESCAC.

1) to my knowledge yes only 32 get funded by ncaa the rest of the team gets funded from somewhere else. In most cases I’ve heard of, the school foots the bill. Yes same bus hotel everything but can’t be on the sideline during the game (I think in the early rounds this part isn’t always enforced)

I thought you were talking about Tufts - RIT from earlier in the season. My mistake. Still does not change the fact that RPI got spanked by Bowdoin and SLU - lost also. Everyone has been sh**ing on Tufts after losing to Hamilton but good teams lose to worse teams all the time. That is why we play the game.

The NCAA pays for 50. If you have 3 coaches, 1 AD, and 1 trainer, the NCAA will pay for 45 players, but only 32 can enter the game. It's up to each individual program to decide who is on the travel roster, who is in the bench area, and who the 32 patched players who can enter the game are.

I think it got started during covid and the NCAA saw it as a way to limit expenses.

A coach bus seats 50-56 people. Basically, think the ncaa pays for a coach bus and a bed for 50 people.
