Attack along with Dubick and Wisnauskas. The former is a small, quick inside finisher in the mold of Laviano, the latter a big lefty shooter who is capable of powering it up against lighter defensemen.

Any predictions on how the team that seems to long for the era before the shot clock will fair against one that prefers to speed things up? Maryland was ranked high all season but then lost two games to Hopkins late. Penn State blitzed them but they recovered to pull close. Towson appeared to have the on the ropes only to falter late. With the exception of the Duke loss, UVA has finished strong after starting slowly. Maryland's traditionally strong close d will find the UVA attack a challenge. Who will win most of the face-offs? Is LaSalla ok? Recently, Janek, a reserve dm, has emerged as Maryland's top face-off man, but both Hennigsen and Shockey have looked strong at times. Maryland's goalie looked better to me against Towson than he did against Hopkins. Will one goalie play all day for UVA?
This rivalry used to include lots of LI and Baltimore guys on both teams. As the game has spread, there are fewer Maryland men on both teams, but there are still several players who played with or against each other in hs who will be facing each other for the first time in a while tomorrow. Weather shouldn't be an issue. This should be a nice opening game in a weekend featuring a bunch of games that look to close to call.

I like Virginia tomorrow and I don't believe it will be closer than 4 goals.

Definitely a clash of styles. For the Terps, the key offensive indicator is shots. JHU and Towson over 3 games outshot the Terps by 51 combined shots. Prior to those last 3 games, the Terps averaged over 38 shots a game. If they get close to that number or exceed it, UVA will be in for a really tough game. The Terps are 4th in the nation in shooting percentage at 35%, and I believe they're 7th-ish in the nation in fewest turnovers per game. They're an efficient offense. Henningsen is still the top FOGO, with Shockey being the number 2. Janeck at the X is Maryland's equivalent of putting a long pole at the X to muck up the draw and turn it into a groundball battle. When the Terps get to 50% at the face-off X, they're hard to beat because the offense is so efficient. Dolan in goal is solid. In one of the JHU games, he still had like 16 saves despite giving up double-digit goals in the loss. Shows how much rubber JHU put up. With Tillman having faced Tiffany in the 2016 Final 4 (and also playing UNC earlier this season), the Terps won't be too shocked by UVA's pace. UVA's ride will cause a lot of trouble, though. Maryland long poles aren't ball carrying-types.

Good writeup Wheels. Different Maryland team than years past, approach adapted well to the clock but their fades against JHU and their D personnel suggest they are not equipped to deal with frantic pace no matter how familiar Tillman may be.

IDK, it sure seemed like UMd was just throwing the ball around the circle on offense vs. Towson like there was no shot clock (exactly like they always did on offense under Tilman).

UVA is clearly a more talented and athletic team than Maryland this year, and if they play to their potential the Hoos should win easily in a few hours. But you must have just emerged from a 4 year coma if you think Tillman played stallball with his Rambo, Heacock & Kelly teams. When a team loses 22 face-offs like last week, it's generally a sound strategy to get some possession time when they get a defensive stop.

My Conversation with THE LORD

Me: My Dear Father in heaven, I’m praying for Your Divine intercession in the health problem that has recently ...

THE LORD: You again? Didn’t I tell you not to call while I’m watching the tournament? Is that too much to #*%^+•# ask?!? Seriously, what is the matter with you?

Me: It’s not for me, it’s for my lovely ...

THE LORD: I really don’t like Maryland.

Me: Okayyyy ... getting back to that family health issue I’m praying about ... I seek Your Divine help in ...

THE LORD: I mean, I really just can’t stand the Terps. Nothing against Tillman and his boys. They be “woke” and “they is good people” as I like to say, but something about the Terps really crawls up My knickers, ya know what I mean, boy?

Me: I do, but can we get back to discussing that health issue? I could really use Your help in ...

THE LORD: I’d use some expletives to describe those infernal Turtles, but I’m worried the Admin here will put Me in solitary with that Devil Wombat again. That guy’s weird thing with cats .... *shiver*

Me: The Admin can suspend You??? I didn’t think anyone was above ...

THE LORD: We all answer to a higher power, boy. Was I too obvious?

Me: Obvious about ... ?

THE LORD: That “goal” by Virginia that tied the game up against the Twerps ... too obvious?

Me: I ... I ... well, it’s not my place to judge You, but that was pretty ...

THE LORD: I mean, I was being Just and Wise there, right?!? Made up for that in-the-crease goal scored by Burnhart, RIGHT?!?

Me: Bernhardt ... B E R ...

THE LORD: You correcting My spelling, boy ... IN A PRAYER ?!?!? I oughta smite thee you insolent little ....

Me: Please forgive me, Lord, but about that health problem ...

THE LORD: Yeah, yeah ... she’ll be fine. Unlike My venom against you, I really love your little girl. Now go #%*^ off while I watch Notre Dame and Duke you little *^%#.

Me: Thank You, Lord.

THE LORD: Yeah, whatev ....

Call out to SE PA players.
Matt Moore in this case.
Matt Moore who Frank Urso called the best player he ever coached at Garnet Valley — with the game winner, a no-doubter.

And.
Conrad sure played like a first team All American in the 4th quarter.

Actually, Conrad played a great game throughout. GB's, shooting, assisting, riding, clearing, defense.
But the 4th Q he put'em on his back and the team responded.

Pity that the controversy marred the ending a bit, but (thankfully) the earlier Bernhardt goal wasn't the difference either.

I saw the version with the alternate ending and it was the same.

Love the black cleats. Reminds me of when Riddell's and Spotbilt black cleats were king.

When they were struggling, my thought w who is the leader ? Matt Moore is a leader ! Besides Conrad who should be more involved the offense.

Yes, in this case it's better that there were two wrong calls. Missing tip toeing around the crease in real time is a whole lot more understandable than missing a pipe shot that bounces off the cross bar like a hot grounder to third. Would have been good contact if it were a baseball bat. How do you miss that call???

Kinda like missing an obvious double dribble.

Yes! until Puma all whites I believe. We wore red and black unis in HS and the Riddels with the red sole were the best
