Starts dates for D3 teams
Starts dates for D3 teams
I am assuming that no D# has started practice yet and that most teams will begin this coming weekend. That seems like a pretty short preseason if you are playing on 2/10. when does the team you follow start practicing?

I think I heard Salisbury was back last week
Lynchburg, SMCM, and Roanoke have posted on social media about being back this week

Kean - Back in school last 1/16, practice begins 1/23.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
Many teams already started this week.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
Goucher starts practice on 01/24. Classes resume 01/29. First scrimmage on the 3rd, Alumni Game on the 10th and then First game on the 17th.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
I believe the Centennial cannot start practice until 2/1
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
NESCAC practices begin 2/5.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
What are the D3 D1 scrimmages this spring. And what games will be real games?
York plays Wagner. That should be a full scrimmage. We should get an idea of a top 15 D3 vs a low level D1.
York plays Towson. That will probably have mostly backups for Towson and lots of backups for York. Won’t be a good indicator.
Lynchburg and CNU scrimmaging uva and Penn.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
As has been said, what difference really is there between college lacrosse and football and basketball? I love seeing the results of the annual pre-season Ohio St. vs Mt. Union scrimmage.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
Is this sarcasm? NCAA football and basketball are saturated with teams. The best players go D1. Lacrosse only has 75 D1 programs. Top level kids end up at better D3 programs than low level D1.
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
I read it as saying only in lacrosse is the talent level close enough that D3 teams can realistically scrimmage D1 teams!

Actually, there are a decent number of D1 v D3 hockey games each year, esp. w D1 independents.Nosey Ned wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 6:36 pmI read it as saying only in lacrosse is the talent level close enough that D3 teams can realistically scrimmage D1 teams!

Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
Per their Twitter, W&L just finished their first week of practice
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
NJIT has been back. I think if you took a few NJIT players put them on Tufts and allowed them to start last week like NJIT does, who knows….
Re: Starts dates for D3 teams
Yes Jumbo, this is sarcasm. There were some ignorant clowns on here who think the discrepancy in play between D1 and D3 is the same for lacrosse as it is for football and basketball. Data pint #2,957 why this is asinine is that D3 teams not only scrimmage D1 teams, they scrimmage top level D1 teams. Of course no D3 team could beat UVA or Penn but the talent is comparable enough that those D1 powers feel it is worth their while and good training to play top D3 teams. In football, the worst FBS team, let's say my home state UConn, would so thrash the D3 champ that it would be literally physically unsafe to even play the game.

Ladies and gentlemen. One week from today, meaningful Win/Loss lacrosse will be played. That is all.
MAC - The SEC of DIII lacrosse.

Cortland, North Central, Wartburg would beat Stony Brook, Western Illinois, The Citadel...But that was never the point.pcowlax wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:12 amYes Jumbo, this is sarcasm. The point was there's a reason for different divisions. In most cases, the kids, are bigger, faster, stronger in all D1 sports.
