She urged the Appeals Court to stay its hand until the Supreme Court decided what to do with the SC's request to hopscotch the Court of Appeals. I'd guess the other two saw the possibility of delay -- if the SCOTUS in the end declined the hopscotch invitation -- and voted to move on with the direct appeal from the district court on an expedited basis.

I agree with what the majority decided to do. I think Trump's Supreme Court brief is due this week, but there is no telling when the Supremes will act or what they will do. If they do step in and take the case, you can always cancel the oral argument.
