Re: OuttaNowhereWregget--Redux
What is a typical number of games in a spring schedule? What is the lowest number that might be considered typical and what is the highest?

I believe NCAA requires 13 to be eligible for NCAA tournament; if my memory serves me. I may be wrong.

The Ivy's typically schedule 14 or 15 regular season games. The other conferences seem to be mostly 16 regular season games though there are those who schedule 15 and those who schedule 17.lacrossemwj wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:59 am What is a typical number of games in a spring schedule? Agree about an impressive schedule for Liberty. They must be on a mission from God! Sorry

Liberty on a mission?
The Liberty Flames certainly seem to be on a mission to improve/toughen themselves against superior competition. Liberty regularly schedules perennially ranked out of conference teams. They lost the ASUN championship game last year in pursuit of their very first conference title but pushed 6 time (consecutive) ASUN champion Jacksonville to overtime in the process.
Here are the top teams they've scheduled over the last few years:
'24 - Virginia, North Carolina, Richmond, Duke, Florida, Notre Dame
'23 - North Carolina, Richmond, Duke, JMU, Notre Dame, Florida
'22 - Richmond, VT, Florida, Duke, JMU
'21 - VT, Notre Dame, JMU, Duke
'20 - VT, Richmond, JMU, Notre Dame
'19 - Notre Dame, Richmond
'18 - North Carolina, Richmond
Note: The photo editor got it right with this photograph--excellently showcasing the sport and both players.

Fall Classic 2023
Lots of compelling players and matchups but one large question looms: Will the broadcast production quality be up to snuff?
Nothing, and I mean nothing! kills a broadcast deader than poor camerawork. Hopefully, this event will be showcased in the manner it deserves.

"This email was sent from my iPhone..."
In the age of being able to dictate letters to our phones like real bosses to real secretaries, it's glaringly obvious when folks don't proofread their "letter" before sending it out into the world wide web. No high pedigree graduate secretaries to check for typo's and grammar. This doesn't happen among laymen only, but also among writers who get published regularly. Folks think because their phone doesn't alert them to an underlined-in-red spelling error, that their piece is free of all errors and off it goes. No moral to the story, as it were. Just a cultural observation.

Goat?
When I was a kid--a "goat" was one who blew it in a big game. Derived from "scapegoat" which has its origin way back in the time of Moses. I was introduced to the word by Charles M. Schulz. His Charlie Brown was always the GOAT in the big game. Remember the time he was speeding home to score the game-tying run and he slid way too early--half way down the 3rd base line to end the game? Charlie Brown--the Goat yet again. All to say--I've never been comfortable with the Greatest Of All Time acronym. I know I can't use it in the Charlie Brown sense anymore--but I won't use GOAT to describe any player in any sport who has outperformed the greats from previous times. I'll say, "Tom Brady is the greatest of all time when it comes to football." But I'll never use the acronym in the saying.

Is there a more disgustingly ugly "holiday" than Halloween?
That's a rhetorical question.
For weeks we are visually assaulted with images of death, decomposed corpses, gory severed heads and limbs, mayhem, murder and all manner of weapons either dripping with blood or plunged into human forms. Another gratuitous indulgence of the ugly underbelly of America's violent subculture.
When I was a kid the worst looking images we were exposed to were maybe caricatures of witches, Casper the friendly ghost, etc. Now it seems the worst of the worst slasher films is before our eyes for weeks in early Autumn. It was a rare family in the neighborhood who would decorate their house with Christmas stuff. No one ever adorned their property with Halloween images. I'm always happy when this detestable day goes away for another 11 months. Yuck!

Re: OuttaNowhereWregget--Redux
Can I just say--there are folks on here I always look forward to reading when I see their moniker's. I've mentioned two over the last few weeks. A third is LarryGamLax. Loved reading what he posted earlier. He says what he thinks and doesn't care who agrees or doesn't. Sure--he and I have had our scuffles and kerfuffles, but I admire his in-your-face style. Laugh out loud funny at times (as I found portions of his entry in the Transfer portal thread tonight). I especially like that he doesn't whisper and reverently tip-toe around North Carolina or Jenny Levy. Keep on truckin', Larry.
Those are the Big Three right there for favorite reads at this address: Larry, DMac and Seacoaster.
Honorable mention to Fenny 'ol bean. (Known as Essexfenwick to you.)
