Breschi firing Metzbower is a complete chicken sh…. move! The guy gets some heat from the AD and he offers up one of the great OC’s of all time as a sacrifice to buy himself some time. Metz and his 7 national championship rings is the primary reason why Breschi has 1 ring and he buried the guy. What a joke after all his preaching about family, team, and loyalty as soon as things get rough he tosses him. I have lost all respect for him and can’t wait to watch next year implode and him get the same treatment he just gave Metz.

Was there another assistant coach fired at UNC, Indeed running an advertisement today for men’s assistant coach??

Probably for the new third full time position that teams can now hire.

Evidently Petro will be overseeing the d while Unterstein remains on staff.

UNC just got worse.

unc will be an interesting case study given everything. including the conclusion estimated that some progress needs to happen. not known is in what time frame and how much.

is it a complete-ish tear down? will mcgovern still have the keys to the offense with an heir apparent or 2 on the roster? the d was a strong point until late for whatever reason, and now without longtime stalwarts maher and wright supporting up top and in transition. do they have enough new blood in the back end?

They have one of the top offensive players incoming, if they can keep the steady stream of poachers away. There have got to be an awful lot of people in Duffy's ear right now. The staff changes can't help, but we shall see. If he stays the course, he starts at attack day one with Pietremala's kid.

they can't help, did murphy have a large role in offensive recruiting or gameplanning?

Is this a rhetorical question? Jon Thompson is the OC now.

I dont think they get worse. Petro can coach. I dont think it will be a fun dynamic in the locker room though. From what I understood the highly ranked recruits that did not pan out well were the recommendations of KU and JB bought into them hook line and sinker. My guess is that KU and Petro are at one end of the field and JB and JT are at the other. Let the micromanaging begin. This might be more entertaining than the games.

Interesting move. They are friends played together on World team. They are also like Ying and Yang as coaches. I guess UNC needs volatility. This is going to be great or a disaster.

Petro is a tremendous asset and will be missed . Are his D schemes too complex ? Perhaps but he was the one who motivated, planned and recruited for Cuse while the wooden soldier acted the part of HC.

I'm being serious when I ask when was the last time he put together a good product on the defensive end?

I know they didn’t have great personnel on D or at the face off X. But Petro’s Syracuse defense gave up 17.4 goals per game against ACC opponents the last 2 years.

And it would hav been worse if Marks didn’t stand on his head.
