Midseason All-Americans

Post by Laxguy703 »

It is about the halfway point in the season for most teams so I thought I'd take a stab at the midseason AA list.

Making a list of all 3 teams and HM's is way too much work so I am just going to list some of the top players at each position so far.

Attack:
Jude Brown
Jack Boyden(1st Team Lock)
Ryan Gebhardt(1st Team Lock)
Will Harnick
Brett Jackson
Tanyr Krummenacher
Will Byrne
Cross Ferrera

Midfield:
Christopher Crapanzano
Andrew Cook(1st Team Lock)
Coby Auslander(1st Team Lock)
James Issaacson
Von Mabbs
Jack Dowd
Riley Mitchell

SSDM: ** Honestly a little short on this position. Don't know too much
Jake Titus
Campbell Pozin
Zach Goorno
Joe Murtha

LSM:
Ethan Greene
Taylor Jensen
Boots Lackey
Chris Darminio
Michael Ayers

Defense:
Kyle Adelmann(1st Team Lock)
Mike Grace
Ryan Young(1st Team Lock)
John Defazio
Harris Hubbard
Luke Simpson
Nick Morgan
Kyle Craig

FO:
Warner Cabannis(1st or 2nd team Lock)
Ethan Barnard(1st or 2nd team Lock)
Matt Paolatto
John Mckee
Thomas Nelson

Goalie:
Joe Storner
Tyler Hadley
Matthew Freitas
Archer Darrach
Dan Donahue

I am definitely missing some players.

Feel free to debate

Not sure if any Gettysburg guys are mentioned above - they must have a couple candidates? Haven't seen them play this year. And SSDM is always the hardest to pick (very subjective - do you lock down opposing middies/do you spark transition game/do you dominate GBs).

I definitely think they will have a few guys on the list. I just haven’t watched them much and based off stats alone, I couldn’t find any dominant guys.

Now that I am looking back on it, Kyle Howard will probably be a 2nd team AA guy.

I think Brown is a first team lock at attack. Salisbury will go far in May and he's been the best player on that team.

Need to add Dom Zingo #43 close defender from Lynchburg. As a unit they haven’t been as solid as I’m sure they would have hoped but this kid is a certified stud. From watching games this year he has matched up well against other guys on this list. Locked down Ferrara in the loss to Salisbury and played well against Boyden from tufts in my opinion. Stats might make you think otherwise but from watching the games he did well in my opinion.

My biggest critic of this list is cross Ferrara being a first team all American. I mean don’t get me wrong he is a good player and will be and all American but when comparing him to brown and Boyden he is no where near as good this year. In Salisbury's ranked games this year Ferrara has a total of 11 points while Brown has 23. Boyden at tufts has 44 points against teams ranked in the top 20. Those are vastly different levels of production. I understand the kid has 50 points in the year but when the majority of those come against teams like Scranton and merchant marine you’re going to have a hard time getting a first team all American nod from me.

So many great players in these lists and there will be dozens more that do not get recognized, just the nature of the beast...

Evaluating LSM/SSDM is tricky too:

Base off points? GB/CT? Defense itself? So many factors that go into these spots that make evaluating so hard, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Here's to a great April of lacrosse!
