Not surprising, heard he’s a joke as a HC. Been MIA at times, not showing up for practices, no communication with players, etc. look at their roster 2 freshmen this year and heard no one signed yet for next year. 10 seniors on a roster of only 16, looks like a good chance another KCAC program folding. Yeah, I tend to agree, that program hasn't been able to keep a coach, also not a good look, I always see his dad complaining about other teams on twitter.LaxCoach13 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 31, 2022 6:38 amNot surprising, heard he’s a joke as a HC. Yea best of luck to him but shame on the school for setting this kid up for failure.LacrosseFan33 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 10:31 am Yikes

Clarke hires LaBelle who graduates from Clarke on May 27th.
He has 0 expereince and has no idea what he's getting into. He is super ambitious but this will burn him out quickly.
The program has been through so many coaches for a reason. Lack of funding, lack of scholarship money, the school itself is not great, luckily they just got a new turf field...finally.
I am surprised the school is continuing lacrosse in the 1st place. They will barely have a team next year and if this kid cant bring in 15+ in his first season they wont have a program.
This is a very NAIA/KCAC hiring.

Also interesting - UHSP is also hiring a FT assistant
https://www.paycomonline.net/v4/ats/web ... 41FE3F4AF6
No idea the pay, but this tells me they at least understand what goes into building a program.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Well their AD definitely isn’t great. Their men’s HC, Diaz, has failed before on trying to start up a team (http://wcbluejays.com/general/Diaz_Anno ... osse_Coach). However, they still thought it was a great idea to hire him. Diaz has currently only announced 2 signees for the upcoming class.LacrosseFan33 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:21 am Also interesting - UHSP is also hiring a FT assistant

Their Women’s coach wasn’t that great of a hire either, just a local STL coach who did alright at another NAIA school, but at least she’s somewhat fielding a team.

Yeah, Diaz was a ridiculous hire. He couldn't recruit at Robert Morris, Westminster, or Clarke beforehand. He must be an absolutely amazing interviewer hahalaxtea69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 8:50 pmWell their AD definitely isn’t great. This will never get off the ground. Diaz has been all over the midwest and has never had success anywhere. Whats not on the list is him being let go a handful of games into an assistant job at Augustana. Dont lie on your resume boys and girls. He needs to take a hint and find a new career.LacrosseFan33 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 9:32 amYeah, Diaz was a ridiculous hire. He couldn't recruit at Robert Morris, Westminster, or Clarke beforehand. Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
I truly like USHP, the campus is quite nice and close enough to downtown STL without being too heavily involved with the crime of the city. However, that AD, Jill Harter, put too much on her plate trying to start up too many sports at one time. Who in their right mind would start baseball, M/W bowling, cheer, dance, M/W golf, M/W lacrosse, Men's rugby, and M/W Wrestling all in the same span of time. There is no way you would be able to choose the right coaches to help lead those programs. It felt too rushed and I personally think that they made some interesting decisions with it all. Again, I hope UHSP has some success, but I just can't see it happening.LaxCoach1952 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 1:31 pmThis will never get off the ground. Jon Paul is gone from St Ambrose:

Something not right at that school, gone through a lot of coaches and not just in lacrosse. Two most successful left in the last 3 years

Rogers never should have been the coach at Ambrose. He almost tanked both programs. Luckily the recruits and players from the previous coach kept it together.LaxCoach13 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 6:24 am Jon Paul is gone from St Ambrose:

Can't harp on a NAIA coach leaving for a NCAA job, no matter which school they are at. Hopefully Jon does well at the D3 ranks
Next question is where does Ambrose go from here. They let the coach who turned the ship around go mid-season years ago and the new AD let the women's coach go mid-season last year too.
Time will tell...
Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
If I'm the AD at Ambrose, I might try to throw a tempting offer at Coach Nobiling. Long time assistant across the river at Augustana under the old regime, with history at SAU. Could be his opportunity to take a head coaching gig if he wants it.
Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Ambrose AD is hot garbage…
Now, if you are an ambitious coach that can work independently and successfully fundraise to get past budget restrictions, Ambrose isn’t a bad landing spot. Quad Cities are affordable with plenty to do on the weekends. ~2.5 hours west of Chicago with a relatively easy recruiting pipeline to the catholic league teams. New athletic facilities and turf fields. Plenty of pros that would make the right candidate look past a dysfunctional admin.
The Nobiling ship has sailed and planted its flag on Arsenal.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Rogers saved that program, you probably did not know they had to forfeit 10 games from the year before because the old HC played ineligible players. While the old coach brought some in Rogers also brought in a big number. Coaches both teams to Top 10.
Ambrose as a school has issues within their athletic department and that is where they need to fix.
Get your facts straight before you say things, anyone who coaches two teams at one time should get a lot of credit

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Without question, each coach has had their own challenges (both controllable and uncontrollable) as the program has evolved. None have inherited it cleanly wrapped with a bow on top under the Christmas tree. I can’t speak about Coach Paul’s tenure, but I imagine this is the cleanest passing of the baton…
Knowing Ambrose, they have four options:
1. Sign a new HC (“GA”) to a three year MOL contract. Low risk for both parties. Cheap labor for SAU and a degree for the coach. This will continue the turn and burn model.
2. Sign a former alumni. Again, low risk for SAU.
3. Promote internally. Again, low risk but a bad idea for SAU.
4. Call Nobiling. It’s a long shot…
The best option is #1 and pray for a lifer.
If I’m the AD, I’m calling a former walk on that lives in town. He doesn’t have the traditional background, but he’s very passionate about the program and school. Just my two cents.
