Maryland 2022 National Champions
Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
Lars spent half of that time at Brown, a good but tough gig. Since he’s got to UVA he’s had 4 NCAAs, 2 F4’s, 2 title games, and 2 titles. Tills has had 5 NCAAs, 4 F4’s, 3 title games, 2 titles. Pretty close, but there’s an edge to Tills there as well. Just shows how amazing he’s been.

Roman tore ligaments in his wrist. Will have surgery on it soon. Played the whole game with his off hand and a cast on his strong right hand. Every single word of this. EVERY SINGLE WORD.MDGrad2012 wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 6:43 pm I want to make a Matt Rahill appreciation post. Quint has been taking veiled and not so veiled digs at Rahill anywhere he can over the past few weeks. He has said it in podcasts with Petro and Myers, in multiple columns at Laxallstars, and this weekend on the broadcast. There is no question that if you were to pick one of Maryland’s poles to dodge it is Rahill. He does his best work off ball. But he’s a very very good all around defender, including on ball. Piatelli roasted Rutgers on and off ball on Saturday. He was shut out for 59.5 minutes today. Part of that was McNaney, but Rahill had an awful lot to do with it as well.
He was phenomenal all tournament.

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
Maryland and the B1G need to look at balancing their schedules so their own teams aren't at a competitive disadvantage if they make it to the championship. UVA has it figured out, giving themselves a 2-3 week break before the tournament, They just didnt have other competitive factors this year.
Terps just played 6 high-intensity tournament games in 3 weeks, and it almost cost a historically great team their place in history because they had nothing left in the tank (and Cornell was playing like a championship team in the 4th quarter).
The B1G backloading all their conference games does not help. Putting the 'rivalry games' as the last weekend of the season, right before the tournament, does not help. And the B1G tournament itself seems like a waste of energy right before the real tournament starts. Neither Cornell or Princeton made the Ivy League championship game, and they looked great in the NCAA.
The 2nd final 4 game is a real thing too, but that should be expected. Intense heat on Monday afternoon is normal as well. I just think the B1G does its own teams a disservice by making their own schedule so intense at the end that it could cost their top teams when it matters (Penn State 2019 is a good non-Maryland example).

This happens too often. I get that the player wants to play but when you're injured to the point that you can't play anywhere near your "uninjured" self I don't think you're really helping your team, and I'd agree are a liability at times out there. Pretty sure Rutgers did this too with an injured player who just couldn't do what he does. Watched Megan Carney (just an incredible player) on the girl's side do this too. Just absolutely could not play anywhere near the level she played at prior to the injury/full recovery. This really does the player no favors or the team.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 7:09 amtough kid for sure but he shouldn't have, he was a liability out thereWheels wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 12:16 amRoman tore ligaments in his wrist. But the shifts he took on Monday certainly saved the other shorties from expending valuable energy that could have cost them even more in the 4th quarter. Roman wasn't his usual great self, but his minutes helped the team in the end.DMac wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 7:53 amThis happens too often. As a Floridian, I’m impressed that both Wisnauskas and Pat Spencer attended the same high school in Baltimore, Boys Latin. I assume they overlapped?

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
I read an article about Makar yesterday, e seems like an excellent guy. The article was written at the beginning of this season I believe, and the gist of it was that the coaches were encouraging Makar to verbalize his leadership more. Which makes it all the more impressive that he became a vocal leader this season because apparently it didn't come naturally to him.keno in reno wrote: ↑Mon May 30, 2022 4:31 pm Seems like Makar and Puglise deserve credit for being all-time great Terp lacrosse leaders. Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
If looked at the highlights of the games they put out during the season Makar was the guy in the huddle before taking the field and giving the motivation speech. Even though Wisnauskas worn #1 I would say Makar/Bubba and Pulgise were the heart and soul of the team.JBFortunato wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 9:45 amI read an article about Makar yesterday, e seems like an excellent guy. John Tillman Appreciation Post.
In 12 seasons at Maryland:
2 National Titles
9 Final Fours
10 Big Ten
79 All-Americans
160 wins
All accomplished with the idea that developing the person is more important than any game.
Respect, Coach.

Is Benson going to get offered the Providence head job?

I really believe that is Tillman’s philosophy, no BS.AreaLax wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 9:52 am https://twitter.com/umterps/status/1531 ... NapZYyGLBA

Looks like Buczek is following in Tillman’s footsteps.

Re: Maryland 2022 National Champions
The money will always be more outside the Ivys, and as a recruiting coach, your options are wider. Tiffany and Tillman are good examples. Great guys, great ivy programs, but eventually….
But I think he’ll stay in Ithaca a while yet. That school gave a very young guy his first chance; he’s loyal. He also has quite the returning cast next year and beyond. Cornell has no worries he’s going anywhere for at least 5 years.
