Good crew for this game with Zimm and Ward.

Zinn pegs a corner on his first offensive shift...then we don't see him out on offense again for the rest of the half.

The Great
Darby
Cole passing

The Good
Marr finishing
Foley is playing great

The puzzling
Jones makes bad decisions
Baskin should be limited in his time
Desimone continues to be a ghost- play someone else.

WHY IS ZINN NOT PLAYING FIRST LINE MINUTES- A goal and an absolute afterburner all over the field - PLAY HIM MORE

Frustrating doesn't even come close to describing it. The kid has so many tools. Tools that Deso, Baskin et al at the midfeild dont have

Lots of skill and good aggressive play on display from both teams. Blue Jay defenders getting their sticks on the shooters’ hands. Darby coming up with some fine saves.

Need to see more faceoff wins. Prouty doing a good job. Maybe give Narewski a few draws and tire the Virginia faceoff man. In a game this close, whoever wins the possession battle may win the war.

And yes ... MORE ZINN.

Fun game so far.

Virginia ride, winning 50-50 gbs, and Hopkins turnovers are the difference right now.

Horrendous. Face-off guy walks into the crease area and our D is playing the stick. Wouldn't be acceptable on a 6th grade team.

I can’t believe that last goal. Prouty loses the faceoff and then just stops running after his man after one swing of his stick.

Virginia is outhustling the Blue Jays on Homewood Field.

The talent gap is astounding. Foley, Epstein, and Marr (only on EMO) would be the only guys on this team that would see the field for UVA.

This season is about done, but I'm happy we have Epstein and Zinn for 3 more seasons. Hopefully the coaching staff, whether it's Petro/Benson/Dwan or some other group, takes advantage.

it was a more than great series, most especially recently, and sad to see it end.
hopefully, it's back up within a year or 5.

coach or coaches --- should be ashamed.

Agree, Va looked as if they were used to running at high RPMs for sixty minutes. Was a pretty impressive sprint to the finish line.

Zinn, Epstein and Darby take a bow.

The rest of this team should be embarrassed. How is it the middle of the season and Zinn is having his coming out party now? That is coaching and Bobby Benson needs to give his head a shake. The same way he needs to consider the make up of the midfield, why the munchkins continue to see the field when they don't produce and why Shilling is a regular on the man up. Has anyone seen Forry Smith? Did he go into witness protection?

This is on Benson and his decision making assuming he is making the call and not Petro. Absolutely unacceptable lacrosse. This is what happens when you don't put the best players on the field or use them in limited action until the middle of the season :?

Bigger and faster. The munchkins got eaten alive. Maryland should be a fun game this year

Too many turnovers and got outhustled on their home field. :?

What was maddening was watching Hopkins stay back on defense trailing by five goals with less than 5 minutes on the clock. Go after the ball! Does it really make sense to stand there and watch Virginia take 20 seconds off the clock? :?

Then there’s Cole Williams dodging ... right in front of him is Epstein at his favorite spot to the right of the goalie waiting for a pass ... and instead he tries to force the ball inside. Really? What’s the matter, Epstein score too many goals?

And if you’re lacking outside shooters, and Zinn has a rifle (not to mention a couple of goals), why is he sitting most of the game?

Seems like mainly the freshmen showed up on offense (7 of 11 goals). Darby made some amazing saves, but the outside heat really hurt him again.

This was a great game for two and one half quarters. Lars Tiffany has himself some playas.

Blue Jays know what they must do ... win the B1G “regular season title” or win the B1G AQ. Otherwise, Blue Jays will sit out the tournament and Hopkins might start thinking about some changes.

Imagine not putting Zinn and his righty cannon on the EMO. Couldn't be me.

Darby definitely stole a few he had no business saving. But, again, he let in a bunch he needed to save. In the end it about evened out. This loss is not remotely his fault but I might hold off on anointing him the next great Hopkins goalie, as these announcers nearly did.

They also made it clear twice that the reason for the scheduling change is an ACC conference issue. Lots of egg on a lot of faces in this thread.

Outside of a couple nice passes from Cole, the offense is nothing sort of a catastrophe. Waste 60 seconds with tepid dodges from munchkin middies who can't beat their man or finish, then hope Epstein bails them out with a miraculous goal at the end of the shot clock. It works occasionally because the freshman really is that good. But probably not a great strategy if you want to beat a team like Virginia—or anybody else on the remainder of this schedule.

It’s pretty obvious Epstein has outworked everyone else on the team. No one can shoot with that kind of precision without countless hours of extra practice. And Epstein’s dodges aren’t particularly fancy or spectacular ... everyone knows what he’s going to do. He just executes them to perfection. Again, reflecting countless hours of extra practice. I’ve said it before ... Joey Epstein is the Pete Rose of college lacrosse (without the gambling problem). Frankly, Epstein puts the upperclassmen to shame.

As for Zinn, how many other teams sit their fastest, most athletic offensive midfielder for most of the game? Name one other team that does that. Zinn needs more game reps ... like NOW.
