Were that to happen again in 2019, I'm not sure that the UVa win would tip the scales to get Hop into the dance.
They would also have wins over OSU and Rutgers to go with UVa.
Hopkins is not "in" if they are 5-3, but they would put themselves back on the bubble. If they are 4-4, they are in deep doo-doo.

Right now on just the eye test, as in watching games, JHU and RU look like teams fighting for the 4th B1G spot. PSU's offense is just phenomenal, and it compensates for an average defense (but their goalie is an outright thief in the cage). OSU looks to have regained their physically imposing defense and a just dangerous enough offense. Maryland has lacked some consistency and their EMO is bad, but they're deep on offense and in the defensive midfield. I haven't seen much of Michigan outside of highlights.

I saw Michigan in person in Atlanta on Sunday. Non factor in the Big Ten. They might upset one team, but that's the extent of what they'll do. Only way they get in the B1G tournament in my mind is if there's a 3 way tie for 4th and they somehow win the tiebreaker.

Rutgers loses to Lehigh tonight 13-10, dropping Rutgers to 4-3. Rutgers is looking out at the moment.

Hopkins manage to beat MSM.

Offense was pitiful in the 6v6 and the defense got bailed out by an unreal goalie performance. Could easily see them go 0-2 this week.

A pat on the back for an insightful observation has considerably more meaning when given by someone other than the deliverer of that observation. "Just sayin".

About the same as last year, just that JHU and Rutgers are losing more, while PSU and OSU are losing less.
Last year there were 14 total OOC losses in the regular season, 10 so far this year.
2018 38-14, .731
2019 28-10, .738

It is true that some of the Big Ten schools are moving into noticeably tougher parts of their OOC schedule, like OSU playing Denver and ND, so it could end up being more
3/16 Villanova at Maryland
3/23 UNC at Maryland
3/16 Delaware at Johns Hopkins
3/23 Virginia at Johns Hopkins
3/16 Rutgers at Syracuse
3/23 Hofstra at Rutgers
3/23 Penn State at Cleveland State
3/16 Denver at Ohio State - CANCELLED
3/23 Ohio State at Notre Dame
3/16 Michigan at Marquette
3/19 Notre Dame at Michigan
3/23 Delaware at Michigan

Looks like it is related to the Blizzard out in Denver.

Makes the Notre Dame game even more important for tOSU. A marquee non-conference win would go a long way if they don't win the Big Ten.

Don't you all get the feeling that neither Denver nor OSU wanted to reschedule that game? A couple of years ago when weather forced the cancellation of the Maryland-Albany game, they rescheduled it midweek later in the season. That game for the Terps got sandwiched between games against highly ranked PSU and RU.

Granted, it's a little tougher go get from Denver to Columbus midweek....but....

Agree and reports were that DU was flying in on Thursday for Saturday game. Seems odd. Were airports still closed today and, further, why couldn’t game be pushed to Sunday? Both sides appeared relieved to just skip the whole darn thing.

When DU's Thursday flight was cancelled, (1 of 1,600 DIA cancelations) DU tried to make other arrangements in good faith, but couldn't find enough seats to carry entire traveling party using combination of flights. A few years ago for a east coast game, DU had a flight cancelled and flew into 5 different airports (Newark, LaGuardia, Philly, Balt, DC). Du needed the game for SOS and possible win while OSU needed it for possible strong OOC win just in case..
Does OSU have their own jet to fly the football team?

A: That can be arranged.

Q: Does OSU have their own jet to fly the *lacrosse* team?
A: Outlook not so good.

Finding flights this weekend probably proved to be too difficult for sure, but it's almost as if there are 7 or 8 weeks left in the season where they might have been able to play a midweek game. Perhaps all of the flights between Denver and Columbus were sold out between now and May 1st. If was a bad storm, after all.

Saw a segment about the game in Columbus and it was a combination of things; spring break schedules, exam schedules and conference schedules for both schools. I do believe they talked quite a bit and just could not find a date that worked for both. I would think that a game during the week would be extremely hard with the travel distance. Too bad, it would've been a good game.

after today you'd think maryland and penn st just need >500 b1g conference records to make the ncaa tournament, michigan and rutgers need to win the auto bid to make it and Hopkins and OSU need to at least make the big10 tournament and probably win at least one game there.

Maryland's and PSU's problem might mostly lie with picking up some quality wins. Penn, who both PSU and UMd have beat, had a nice win over Princeton, getting Penn back to .500. PSU also has a quality win over Cornell. Both PSU and UMD have similar results against Villanova (17-7). Maryland plays UNC on Saturday.

I think OSU is a little ahead of JHU, as OSU doesn't have any losses yet. OSU just needs to get a couple quality wins. OSU still has a chance for a pre-Big Ten play quality win versus at Notre Dame on Saturday. OSU should at least be well rested for that game.

JHU might get a quality win out of their UNC win, which is a plus for them. Big game coming up with UVa at Homewood.

Not looking too good for Michigan or Rutgers, although Michigan could still turn things around a bit before Big Ten play if they upset Notre Dame on Tuesday.
