I think the EMT was a very powerful witness for the prosecution. As one of the commentators noted, it is quite unusual for two eyewitnesses to also have expertise in areas relevant to the case. The MMA guy gave some pretty interesting testimony on chokeholds and the like.

The thing that I thought was most powerful about the EMT, though, is that she clearly communicated that she thought what the cops did was wrong. So here is a person trained in dealing with medical emergencies, who saw what was going on with her own eyes, who is basically telling the jury the cops killed this guy. Plus, she intimated that she could’ve helped, and maybe even saved Floyd’s life.

While the exchange with the judge at the end was more than much ado about nothing, I don’t think the witness’ combativeness with defense counsel will detract from her testimony.

Lawyers (understandably) don’t like it when witnesses don’t answer the question, argue, and make speeches. Judges don’t like that either. And this witness was cautioned several times before the judge lectured her. He did that out of the presence of a jury, of course.

I don’t think the jury will take any points away from the witness because of any arguing she does. Yes, it appears she clearly is siding with the prosecution, but I think what comes across is that she is, in effect, an impartial arbiter of sorts who happened upon the scene who has concluded what the cop did was wrong. I can see that being very important to the jurors.

Having said all that, the witness would be smart if she stops violating the rules when her testimony resumes tomorrow.

Given the make up of this jury, however, I would be somewhat surprised if the cop is convicted on all charges. I think they will convict him of something, though, because what he did was clearly wrong in the sense of how juries view right and wrong. We shall see.

The witnesses have been great for making the case. The videos are damning.

The prosecutor has given the jury a big enough menu. Frankly, I will consider it a loss for the nation if he is convicted of anything less than Murder 2. I think that is the maximum crime he is charged with. That's not premeditated but with intent - correct?? This was not an accident, there was clear intent.

MSNBC and CNN are devoting entire days to this trial, ratcheting tensions every day. If the jury acquits, you lunatics will demand to know the home addresses of the jurors. And if a mob kills a juror, it wouldn’t bother you for a second.

If the cop is found guilty or innocent, I respect the jury. I’m not paying attention to the actual trial but rather the manner by which American Democrats now behave.
