Catholic's posting is interesting to me. I'm not going to say it's a "bad" hire, but I'd be curious to know how the finalist group, or app. pool in general, looked. It just seems like a head-scratcher that a 2016 grad that might be 26-27 years old with no head coaching experience remained the last one standing. It's entirely possible that a more seasoned coach turned it down because of the cost of living, relocating at this time, etc. This is an interesting time for searches, to say the least.

I was wondering the same thing...

80+ applicants, Coach Sax has a ton of support in the lacrosse world, he's been an assistant at quality programs.
Not a bad idea to go with an energetic, younger guy.
If there ever were a program that should be great, it's Catholic - favorable location, close proximity to hotbeds, and a lower admissions bar than some NESCAC, NCAC and ODAC schools that might be alternatives.
Good luck to Coach Sax, I hope he does well.

Program has never won a game. They need to drop it to a funded club program not NCAA. Build up a team at that level and move back to D3.

Can you give us any hints? Maybe where the “overlap” occurred?
I’m very excited to see how Lake Forrest pans out. IMO they will be legit tourney team from Midwest within 3 years.

Lafe Forest is a nice school -- good campus and location, good people. Personally I hope they do well, but I'm less optimistic than RiverDonkey. With a little knowledge of that administration, it's hard for me to believe lacrosse will get the support it needs to compete at that level. I think they have some issues that even a very good coach will struggle to overcome. Time will tell.
