After spending the last 3 weeks watching every game I missed I want to gather together a list of my top 100 players. I probably missed some guys but this I feel is very accurate. My AA list was the closest to inside lacrosse as there was. Let's hear some thoughts, would love for others to share theirs. For Offense, I factored in their competition, points, matchups. For Defense, I factored in 1v1 Matchups, competition, on/off ball D. For FO, percentage, competition. Goalies, save percentage, competition, # of saves.

Top 100 Player List From 2020
Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
While Sam Handley had a nice game against UMd with 5pts (3g, 2a), but it was the only game he played. Seems a little much to rank him #10.
Both Fairman and Aitken are outstanding players, but both were struggling with scoring, so I might put them in the 2nd 50.
I would have Wisnaukas in the top 10 and Bernhardt right next to him.
I would have Tre LeClaire in the top 20. He had big games against quality teams: Cornell and ND.
A. DeMaio with 21 points in 6 games at midfield, probably deserves to be higher.
Justin Shockey returned to form for the Terps and probably should be top 100.
I'd probably have Kraus in the top 40, and Cormier in the top 100. Jackson Reid probably deserves to be top 100.
Your list needs a lot of work in my opinion.

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
I agree with all of this. Forgot Cormier but have different reasons for Aitken and Fairman. Even though they struggled with scoring they still were able to draw slides and have a lot of hockey assist. A lot of midfielders don’t have a lot of points because of this. DeMaio should be ranked in the top 30 you’re right

Cooter.....found it comical that you blamed a B1G loss on youth. Saying the Wolverines (evah a more appropriate movie ) LOST to a brand new Div. 1 program b/c of the young on the team.....especially on the Defensive end.
Comical
Besides the aforementioned attackman, one of the best 1 vs 1 scoring threats in Div. I (now) , Merrimack has TWO starters on defense that are true freshman. & LSM. FOGO also a rookie. In fact, 80% of the kids playing, in actual games, young (Soph/rookie )
So, I got a chuckle about THAT excuse.

Hey, it's your list. Not knocking it. (will knock n$aa tho......would Merrimack counted in RPI formula? or essentially glorified scrimmages. For years. clowns, the n$aa are/IS )
You do have Zwanda on your list, even though Bertrand had more points in their VICTORY over his Wolvies. Be honest, how many times have you seen him play? (Bertrand )

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
Bertrand wasnt the best offensive player in the NEC, probably not in the top three in the conference in fact. Took all the shots, I'm sure one could try to counter that he was the sole focus of opposing defenses but that's simply not true if you watched their games at all (free on NEC network except Hobart as associate member). Would personally have not in order Popovich, R Smith, Knox and Holden ahead, maybe O'Rourke as well, and that's before you look at Adler/Cole (wonder if Cole could keep it up all season and beyond, he looked overworked already, happened to our guy Pedicine last year and Ben Williams at Cuse a few years back). Ryan Smith is one of the very few offensive players in top 10 in gbs/gm, Popovich had one of only two man down goals in conference. And Merrimack's Fogo was middle of conference at a healthy .546 so they had possessions too.runrussellrun wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 3:16 pmI would add, since this is the Div. Conference stats for season:
4th in g/gm
Not top ten in assists/game
7th in pts/gm
3rd in shots/gm (top 3 were Smith, O'Rourke and Bertrand, interestingly far more shots/game than either Knox or Holden who were at 8.6 and 7.8/gm, Bertrand was at 11.17/gm so huge difference in shooting % between those guys including smith and o'rourke)
Here's Bertrand's game by game, he wasn't getting better as the season went on it appears:
Holy Cross - 2, 0, 2, 8shots, 4 SOG (25% shot)
Dartmouth - 6,0, 6 16 shots, 14 SOG (best game by far at .375 and most on goal)
Fairfield - 3,3,6, 12 shots, 5 SOG (25% shot)
Mich - 4,1,5, 9 shots, 6 SOG
Vermont - 1,1,2, 9 shots, 5 SOG
UM Lowell - 2,0,2, 13 shots, 7 SOG
So his last two games he was 3,1,3 on 22 shots which works out to less that 14% (rough math since 3/21 is 1/7 which we all know is .14 "bar")
He's a fine player, but I felt like he was sort of nationally overrated by the media this year and it's kind of unfair to the other guys in the conference. If you add him you have to add at least one other among Holden, Popovich, Smith, O'Rourke assuming one would keep Knox on the list who was down towards the bottom of the original one. Tough call, I think Knox is more talented than Holden, both are equally critical but for a lot of folks who saw the Syracuse game they'd probably be left with the impression Holden was head and shoulders above Knox even if Knox had like 3-4 pipes and one or two lasers just over a top left corner of the goal by very small margins.

Bertrand is legit.
He has all the tools and can do it against any competition.
If you guy''s don't want him, that's fine. We'll welcome him with open arms at Loyola. Come to Evergreen, Charlie!

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
Would you take him over the five guys I referenced (Holden, Knox, Ryan Smith, Popovich and Marc O'Rourke)? Knox isn't going anywhere in truth as only a Soph, but the others I think were all Seniors as well, some are in the portal already.
I laid out his performance. Wasn't trending better last couple of games and wasn't shooting lights out overall, especially if you toss the Dartmouth game which was 1/3 of his goals on the season (6/18), only Knox had fewer assists and RMU and Bart played 5 games vs. 6 for Merrimack.

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
I had Eric Holden on this list he should be somewhere in the 60-70 range. Knox is a good player and deserves to be on here. Bertrand would fall in the 100-110 range. I was thinking about posting top 10 players from each position as well. I think that would be nice to talk about

“I wish you would!”

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
Did a control F and didn't see his name but must've missed it.Laxrat120 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 5:41 pm I had Eric Holden on this list he should be somewhere in the 60-70 range. Knox is a good player and deserves to be on here. Bertrand would fall in the 100-110 range. I was thinking about posting top 10 players from each position as well. I think that would be nice to talk about
Other thing I noticed is it seemed like Tierney was overrated compared with a lot of peers. He's got the name but I've tracked him as something of a comp for Holden and some of the guys between Holden and Tierney should've been above Tierney IMO.
Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
100% agree with this. Bernhardt was a FAR more impactful player than Wisnauskas this year. Points don't tell the whole story.Laxrat120 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:56 pmAlso have to remember wisnauskas is nowhere near as good without bernhardtLaxrat120 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 2:56 pm I agree with all of this. Forgot Cormier but have different reasons for Aitken and Fairman. Even though they struggled with scoring they still were able to draw slides and have a lot of hockey assist. A lot of midfielders don’t have a lot of points because of this. DeMaio should be ranked in the top 30 you’re right
List is decent. Definite over-ranking of Cuse guys but I'm guessing that is your team Laxrat.
Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
Not a Cuse fan honestly am a big Duke fan was just trying to be honest. Would love to hear who I overrated on cuse
Re: Top 100 Player List From 2020
Was hard to get a firm handle on Duke this year. Bit up and down but they're gonna be real good real soon. Good vets if they return, some young players in Williams ,Caputo and Leadmon. Going get Robertson back and next few recruiting classes are top notch.
