A couple of things through the weekend:

1. Yeah, Boston College is down a couple of pegs this season.

More than a couple. This is a rebuilding year. Charlotte North with be faceguarded mercilessly this year. I quote the good doctor here: "Maybe CN isnt able to take the place of the three by herself. Supergirl trick shots not withstanding."

3. Duke scored 20 goals on Sunday!

Six of which were clearly in garbage time. The Wildcats held a 10 goal lead when they took their collective foot off the pedal and watched from 5:37 left in the game as Duke capitalized.

Duke is much improved this year, no doubt. They'll embarrass BC in 6 weeks. (Poor Charlotte. They're going to do a number on her.) But make no mistake about it--Northwestern is in a higher echelon than Duke, despite what the final score read.

6. Had the Duke-Northwestern game been 70 minutes instead of 60, I think Duke might have won it. It took a while for the Blue Devils to figure everything out.

I think it was more a product of NU taking their foot off the gas and playing the bench (28 players). I think that if NU was concerned about the final score or spread, the score could have been alot more disparate.

You may be right, Doc. What I saw from Duke yesterday (even though they were dominated) made me think they will finish above BC in the standings. Jenner is a real asset on the draw. 6' 2" for goodness sake. She'll need to learn how to pass out though if she wants to be really effective. Coach had her 'Cats all over her the instant she won the draw and caused a few turnovers. They've got some feisty good gritty players and some players who can score. Defense--sure, but who isn't going to look exposed this year the way NU is humming? We shall see, but we shall see.

What a great start to the 2020 season! So what did we learn about the Top 20 or so that we didn’t already know?....not that much as it turns out. ...Syracuse is scary.

Don’t sleep on Duke

I agree that Duke is better than anticipated. They're young and raw with some blue chip recruits suiting up for the first time but I think they'll finish ahead of BC in the ACC this year.

Very interesting question. Tough to gauge that but it will be something to keep an eye on as the season progresses. I'm fascinated to see the BC at Duke game in 6 weeks.

Interesting connection there too...BU head coach was Duke Assoc head coach when North was a frosh at Duke.

LIU beat Manhattan. Only interesting because LIU is a new D1 program and Manahhatan is a (slightly lower than the) middle of the pack team. Rutgers (who LIU lost to) is truly a middle of the pack team.
