Re: Rules question: Wing play
hoodat and scarlet are correct. in addition... while a faceoff, you are not allowed to "hold" the faceoff man, including his stick, until the exit happens past tense. different than other places on the field, so the only engagement you could really have is checking his stick (without holdi...

Re: Yale v UVa - should VA bother showing up?
Duke was favored. Penn State was heavily favored. No one knows anything until they play the game. Duke was also ranked #2, for some reason. Meanwhile, one could argue Maryland could very easily be playing tomorrow against Yale. A blown call sorta crushed the spirits of those Maryland seniors and al...

Re: Yale v UVa - should VA bother showing up?
fair enough. the break in my post was then addressing thoughts from other guys (and not the 1st comments on the matter). tomato, tomato. some of the points you bring up... had me pull up their schedules. yale played in 6 one goal games. penn in 7, and 2 other 2 goal games. that's a lot of close gam...

Re: Yale v UVa - should VA bother showing up?
I do feel like the Penn St. Penn and Yale side of the bracket was way better than the other side and that in a 7 game series all 3 of those teams would beat Duke and Virginia but we don't have a series we have one game and Virginia is more than good enough to beat Yale in a one off. I wouldn't bet ...

Re: Yale—Penn State
This game has been a good argument for alternating possessions instead of face offs. It alters the game too much Would you penalize Seth Curry for being too good at shooting 3s? Or LeBron for being too big? Maybe move the wings in closer but you can't penalize someone for being so good. No, but doe...

Re: USILA All-Americans
One of the reasons I posed the question is because of the low number of votes that determine the USILA poll rankings. A quick review tells me those numbers have fluctuated between 14 and 20 this year which would indicate that very few coaches take the time to register their opinions on the matter. ...

Re: THE Hopkins Lacrosse Fallout Shelter (44, we want more!)
i will try to help, but may just cause more confusion. 51, i know you've commented on "leaving school", boland and dingman before. leaving school has nothing to do with eligibility. i don't know all the details of either, other than they both had injuries at times, and that dingman was rul...

Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
though this year, based on at larges and committee quotes, rpi was certainly a very large factor, and in fact THE guiding factor... even though it is NOT suppossd to be a criteria for selection... a lot of the discussion around here is the nebulous and opaque way they go about selecting teams, depe...

Re: D1 Men NCAA Tournament
RPI is the current metric, teams need to schedule and play with this metric as their guiding light, and... The NCAA needs to change the metric. RPI, which is basically just SOS multiplied by Winning Percentage, is too simplistic. It's a broad-brushstroked metric that puts way too much emphasis on S...

People know TIllman SO well! Except that he isn't married!! oh wait, that's an "arcane" detail...too funny! Hope "she" does well with the field hockey team!! umm.. it was a take on tambroni going to penn state. which is the one switch, unforeseen, that would be in the same...

Re: Navy 2019
I just don't see any scenario with Tillman ending up at Navy UNLESS he is let go by UMD--and that ain't happening. If TIllman was bringing in $150k- $200k I may change my tune; but, if the prior post is correct then no way he is leaving UMD on his own. In addition to recruiting, Tillman has been br...
