Re: CORNELL 2025

Melkonian has had a great season, and I believe he has been over 90% for the playoffs to date. Although he dominated against East Islip, I think East Islip faced off with a pole.

Re: CORNELL 2025

This was against Manhasset in South Side’s 12-10 win for the Nassau class B Championship. Melkonian is over 80% for the year.

Re: CORNELL 2025

I think we had a perfect storm this year with our defense because: 1. Loss of a generational defender in Adler. 2. Injuries to two of our best short sticks, leading to other teams regularly attacking our shorties and causing our D to constantly rotate and cover for vulnerabilities. 3. Staub was not ...

Re: CORNELL 2025

I liked Luzzi, too. He had a nose for the goal and wasn’t reluctant to try to get there. Sneaky shot, too. I also don’t know whether he was injured or just too far down the depth chart. I think Lamb may be ready for some playing time, and incoming Luke Robinson is high potential. He has so much spee...

Re: CORNELL 2025

I agree on Troy and have touted his potential a couple times. Last year, I thought Jaxon Smart had potential as a ssdm-- good size and speed and had played both offense and defense previously. But I never saw him on the field or even in uniform on the sidelines, so I wonder if he was injured. Gilmar...

Re: Cornell 2024

On the topic of incoming recruits, I was scanning Ty Xanders’s feed to catch up on transfer portal happenings when I saw this post that singles out incoming SSDM Jimmy Troy as a prospect that has “flown up his 2024 board”: https://twitter.com/tyxanders/status/1790053676360384948 I don’t have the ne...

Chase Yager-- see above post which does not include UVA because it was just addressing the issue of transfers to Ivies.

Re: Cornell 2024

Agree on Taylor. Several good 25s, and I like to see the family connection. Brian Box and Blake Cascadden. Brian is a little bigger than Charlie, fast, and excellent two way player. Blake is a big d mid.

Re: Cornell 2024

Melkonian is winning faceoffs over his last 4 games at 85%-- against Roslyn (much improved team with a good fogo), Manhasset, Massapequa, and Long Beach. He is also a big threat to score off the draw, and had 3 goals against Long Beach. Hopefully, he and Ricci can make the jump to D1 success. Psyllo...

Re: Cornell 2024

Your conclusion in 3) concerning the difficulty of beating quality teams in a relatively short period of time is ironic
given Penn beating Cornell twice this year and Princeton doing the same to Yale.

Don’t disappear— we will start a 2025 thread when the dust settles.

Re: Cornell 2024

From the NE West 1 high school thread: 3 on trinity Pawling is also a killer. Had about 8 goals. Tp with a big win over Avon also last week. That’s Cornell 25 mid recruit, Luke Robinson. He will probably be the fastest kid on the team. He just runs by defenders even though they know he wants to go l...

Glad to hear about #3 on TP. That’s Luke Robinson, Cornell recruit. Very fast with a hard, accurate shot on the run.

Re: Cornell 2024

This mirrors my view. Yes, there are anomalies in the selection system, we had key injuries where we could least afford it at inopportune times, we had a great team that on a given day could beat anybody, we have great coaches, loyal fan base, and great lacrosse tradition, we had some freakish calls...

Re: Cornell 2024

Wish Goldstein took a more aggressive role. He was able to beat his defender and solve the Carroll riddle the few times he stepped forward. He seems to defer to older guys I agree. Goldstein was particularly passive in the first half, but was effective dodging from behind in the second. Thank you B...
