Re: Best Team of All Time
'76 Big Red hands down. Admittedly, I had to look, but Faircornell missed USILA 2nd team AAs Levine (A) and Katz (D) (Kane=Katz?), and HM AAs Dybus (M), and Marchell (D). Kane injured in during the 76 season. Katz is Bob Katz Hobart v Cornell 77 was postponed due to weather and not rescheduled. It'...

Re: NIL, Title IX, Power 5, future of Lax et al
Last Thursday, the NCAA and the so-called "power five" athletic conferences reached an agreement to end the tradition of amateurism in college sports by allowing athletes to receive pay directly from the colleges and universities they play for. The agreement, part of a class-action lawsui...

Re: BC NORTHWESTERN
With only “club like” support BC fielded a decent team until they dropped lacrosse circa early 90’s? With proper funding and support they would easily be a top 15 team. Reinstating the BCs Men’s program has been discussed but is not going to happen. The Eagles field 26 teams 9 Men 12 Women and 5 Coe...

Re: Tewaaraton Award 2024
With Entenmann at 67% and #51 with 5 points vs Denver, I think that it's a two player race right now. Shellenberger with 2 points against UMD might not be a strong enough outing. For #1, I'm contrasting him with Rob Pannell in 2013... Cornell lost to Duke in the Semis, but Panell had a pretty big g...

Attendance 32,269. Seems like less or maybe fans didn't stay for both games.

Re: House v NCAA
I think the settlement raises more questions than answers other than the NCAA dodging anti-trust violations. At what point are paid athletes employees and possible impact on T9 ? Could a condition of accepting payment from the university be that you can’t take collective money? Will there be a chall...

Re: Interested in hearing opinions on why Torpey left HP for Brown
Forbes financial grade for HP, C with an endowment of around 200 million for 5,000 students.
Forbes financial grade for Brown, A+ with an endowment of 6.6 billion for 9,000 students.
Translates to more stable environment in terms of budgets, salaries, financial aid, etc.

Re: John Tillman: Best Coach in the Game, Right?
I think of the Bum Phillips quote : I don't know if he's in a class by himself, but I do know that when that class gets together, it sure don't take long to call the roll.

Re: Coaches On The Hot Seat 2024
Danowski certainly isn’t on the hot seat, but the issue may be the succession plan for Matt may not be going as planned. Had they won it last year or this year, maybe he could have rode off into the sunset while handing the keys to Matt. Now that doesn’t seem like a possibility with the underachiev...

Re: NESCAC
The USA All American list, and how they select it, is pretty bad, IMO. Excited to see the USILA announcement and also who will play in the North/South game. Tufts just has to much (everything) up and down the roster and should win comfortably. Tufts 23 Fisher 10 Agree some of these lists are rough ...

Re: NESCAC
Lets talk Lax - how does Tufts match up with SJF. What about Bowdoin - Midd round 3. Who do we like? I have to say that I think that game will depend on Hobbs. The performance against RPI was outstanding and if he has another game like that, I have a hard time seeing Bowdoin losing. That being said...

Re: NESCAC
It's remarkable to think that after tomorrow night, only eight teams will remain. Personally, I'm not a fan of this NCAA format. A small part of me likes the summer tournament feel it brings, but overall…yeah, it leaves a lot to be desired. No time to enjoy a win, no time to prepare for an opponent...

Re: NCAA Tournament 2024
If the NCAA guideline for ground travel is up to 400 miles, both Tufts and SJF exceed that amount. I imagine the NC$$ will find a couple of shortcuts that will allow the use of a motorcoach

ND should win easily but roughly 10 years ago Detroit Mercy gave the Irish a scare. ND needed a fourth quarter comeback to get the W.

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?
Things change At one time the positions in lacrosse were : Att - In Home, Out Home, First Attack... Mids- Second Attack, Center, Second Defense ... D was Point , Coverpoint and First Defense. By rule Goalies wore jersey numbers 1-9, Defense 10-19, Middies 20-39 and Attack 40-49. I believe JHU follow...

I'm sure there will be lacrosse purist that will express the disdain for the Olympic discipline of the sport I feel its a version the general public can follow and enjoy. The version of tennis we watch today is derived from the sport of kings version referred to as real tennis or court tennis. I not...

Re: Possible face-off changes
Officials usually look for the contrasting color Rule 4 Section III 15. Paint or a single wrap of thin tape shall be applied to the handle of the crosse for any player taking a faceoff. The tape or paint is to begin (but not touch) the plastic at the throat of the crosse and continue 6 inches down t...
