Re: NCAC 2022
Ned - you're confusing me, and it seems like you two might be on the same page. Playing some lesser (but still ranked) teams instead of two Top-5's, might be both smart and easier. You laud Caravana for focusing on OOC in the 10-15 rankings, but then seem to criticize Plantholt for four in the 14-18...

Re: FIT
Apparently fired the HC yesterday, and I think also the baseball HC. AD held a meeting with the team, and they walked out on him.

Re: 2021 Coaching Carousel
Best - Amherst. The disparity between where this program was, the sh**show it became, and the stability that this brings, is huge. You expected Denison and G-burg to keep the train running and they did - top 10% programs with top 10% selections, so no surprise there. With Amherst we really didn't kn...

Re: UTampa
I think, or at least I hope, that at a lot of these schools there is a sense of loyalty to assistant coaches. It's a sliding scale with D1 basketball at one extreme, where coaches fully expect to come and go with a HC change, but they're also compensated accordingly. D2 and D3 assistants are not com...

Re: NESCAC 2020
A little defensive, are we? I'm not too close to the NESCAC anymore, though I do get interested when administrations have stupid, misguided, misunderstood, knee-jerk (choose your adjective) reactions to a situation -- oh, I don't know, maybe something like punishing an entire group for the actions o...

Re: NESCAC 2020
I'm a little surprised there's been no further dissection on this board of the Carrington hire at Amherst. He does have a past connection with Woods, and will probably make more as an Amherst Asst. than he did at Tusculum, but you have to wonder what kind of nudging came from this administration -- ...

Re: Coaching Carousel
Good info - I'd not made the connection of their past time together. That could check a lot of boxes.

Re: NESCAC 2020
He had been a finalist at McDaniel, and would've been a good option there, but it went to G-Burg Asst. Also, on the D2 board, there's talk of Richard Carrington (most recently HC at Tusculum) in line for the assistant spot at Amherst. I'm not buying it, but if it happens it might be another knee-jer...

Re: Coaching Carousel
Prat - I agree with you about 99%. Amherst has certainly been a top 10 team (top 2 in fact) very recently, but whether they can get back to that is a different question. The administration has completely effed up the situation, and hiring Woods is a good step but only if the administration can adapt...

Re: Utah
cbrass - great points. Flashback to 2011 when our family moved to Indianapolis, and for the first time, my kids were in a community with lacrosse. My 8th grader went to his first workout with the local club, and my biggest fear was that some less-athletic kid with stick skills would embarrass him an...

Re: NCAC 2021
Be careful though - that can be a double edged sword. Bringing assistants familiar with the new HC, also means an entire staff with no previous connection to the school. It can work and It can completely backfire, when good coaches just don’t fit the culture…and it’s REALLY hard to predict. Good peo...

Re: NCAC 2021
Ned - I'm still coming up with 20 championships for OWU, but I agree with you on Denison's 23 (my mistake). Concerning the sidenotes, no real agenda there -- I think I was just trying to point out how widely a schools success was (or wasn't) spread among sports, or where there was some dominance in ...

Re: NESCAC 2020
I wish the players well, and understand that they’re excited. They should be, but: “He wants to compete in the best D3 conference, get paid the best D3 salary, and recruit the best D3 players.” This applied to Thompson, and it applied to Devoe, and now it applies to Woods. The constant in the whole ...
